South vs West Round 1

Postby DOC » Sun Mar 30, 2014 9:15 pm

Nothing starts a season like South v West at Noarlunga.

Except for Norwood v Port, Glenelg v Sturt, Eagles v Centrals or North v Adelaide.
West have lost three key members of last years back line (defence) and South lost their full forward and CHB. We will get over losing Wundke but jeez I hope he has a career ending knee injury in the first game.

South trial form was as per usual. We said we would try a few things and like most I did. Pale, Draught, Super Dry and some good red from down South.

I expect us to win by 10 goals.

South were just about the form side of the pre-season but even with our key losses we were streets ahead of them at end of last year. I suspect the gap has narrowed but Bloods should have too many quality, experienced players who can pull it together. A real danger game, especially this time of year but if we are fair dinkum about being a good side then we find a way to win this.

I will stick to my routine of only picking South when they play on Glenelg oval. It has served me well...

Will be there on Sat night keeping a lid on the trial form as I have had my heart destroyed in round 1 many times before.

Hope we can get the season of to a win at home and looking forward to seeing new recruits and game style.

What would a South fan reckon the crowd would be for this one? 2K?

West have apparently got nearly three thousand members  so I'm sure it'll be a bumper turnout from them,

Club would def be hoping for over 2k.

First round, night game, new coach, more members this year at South and the 16s, 18s are both playing at the ground earlier in the day so hopefully will get a good turnout.

Probably 2500. But a neutral would suggest 1700 - 1900.

Crowd numbers for these games are often 1100-1300 and thats hard to believe some times.

I'm thinking something like 1600. 1602 if two of my kids come.

Anyone know why Hourigan isn't named? He isn't listed as injured on club website.
