Flash Poll - Which grade do you think Kilburn should be in?

Postby Footy Chick » Mon Apr 07, 2014 9:41 am

Just curious - no discussion, just pick one.

No one likes seeing clubs struggle and lets face it, it doesn't make for good competition.

Ie; For Kilburn to potentially flourish and survive, where do YOU think they should play?

Plenty of things to take into account when making your decision, ie; the rest of the competition in that grade, Kilburns numbers once injuries set in, where thy could play in a somewhat more even competition without compromising even more players that may jump ship etc..

no nasty comments required and will be deleted. It's a simple question...

You assume incorrectly my friend.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - There is nothing in the rules and regs OR constitution at this point in time that allows them to force a move.

Maybe the SAAFL should look at implementing the ICA grading formula. Play 4 rounds and then grade teams into the relevant divisions.
The current system doesn't seem to work.

Get them in Div7 then the bye moves to div 3. With wingfield, north pines and smosh C grade at least they will be competitive against some teams

Div 3. At worse case at least they know they will be in Div 4 next year. If they drop to C div would that spot remain in 2015? I think not. That's their predicament I believe.

They won't be guaranteed a spot in D4 if they tough it out in D3 either,

Div 3 - They made their bed, let them lie in it.

Glenunga a few years ago were losing by 40 goals in both divs (with some players having to play two games, just to ensure both teams played), they dropped divs and were relegated regularly and rebuilt. Teams shouldn't be gifted a way around a few years of pain just to allow them to rebuild quicker

Bit rich coming from a team who has been gifted promotion?
Should it be more about having competitive games in each division rather than punishing a club because they are struggling?

I can see both sides here.

No one likes to see thumping after thumping, - however we're not talking juniors here, we're all big boys (ok, well I'm not) but I can see why people are complaining because we're wrapping clubs in cotton wool.

Can someone please take the red cordial away from Robb Stark, he's gone a bit silly today. :?

By and large the League has in place a promotion and relegation system that determines the level where the winners, losers and all the in-betweens play the following season. The League also has the ability to also initiate variations on a case by case basis.

My understanding is that each Club is responsible for its own governance…

Therefore the onus should be on the Club if it feels its circumstances are of an exceptional nature that would (on this topic) impact on themselves…… to initiate consultation with the League on their position to find a resolution.... notwithstanding whether any desire to maintain their current standing or if they request consideration to be repositioned.

To that end...there must be a deadline set in place before the season commences for such submissions. (e.g. 1st March….31st March….pick a date).

Once a decision is made stick to it. What the Club may perceive is in their best interests may not always be the case when it comes to matters of the new catch word “equalisation” within the structure of the League for it to function effectively. For whatever reasons the unfortunate situation that a Club finds itself in to be in this position in the first instance, must fall back on it's own governance. My sense of it is once the season starts …..it’s too late. IMO.

thats the way to do it, has my vote

but just fill the bye in div 7 and only a bye in div 7r.

kilburn wont last 10 rounds in div 3 as the bye is inevitable there anyway

andrew demetriou should draw the line immediately and have it done :D

but i bet kilburn will refuse cos their guarding their place in div 4 next year, after inevitable relegation

Ok, well there's a clear majority in my poll, with most of you happy to banish them to C grades...so here's the next question!

This is aimed at those who believe that Kilburn should go to C Grades:

There are currently 4 x 10 team comps in the C grade, ie; it's full - for those playing at home ;)

Does this mean you are voting to have an 11 team comp in one of the C grade comps? Has anyone thought about that? and if so;

1. Who plays the other once and or twice?
2. Who has more byes than the other?
3. How does the league sort the premiership ladder based on byes etc?

Is this STILL the best solution?

Move two of the Uni Sides to Div 8/8R, put Kilburn in C1.

Ideally this would have happened a month ago obviously.

For what it's worth I agree with Cohiba, the League needs to make a strict cut off date as to the nomination of sides well before the start of a season.

If a Club fails to come up with the sides it nominates they should face severe financial penalties and possible disaffiliation.
