There are various reports today about how Australia’s appetite for Game of Thrones has again seen us top the list of illegal downloads.

According to TorrentFreak a sample of 18,333 IP-addresses collected yesterday showed that Australia took the crown with 11.6% of the total. The United States was second with 9.3%, followed by the United Kingdom with 5.8%. Canada, The Netherlands, The Philippines, India, Greece, Poland and Sweden rounded out the top 10.

Given the population difference between us and the others, the numbers are all the more, umm, stark.

Melbourne topped the list of cities of downloaders, followed by Athens and Sydney.

Foxtel remains the exclusive, first-run outlet for GOT in Australia but the move has incensed non-subscribers unable to legally purchase the show through iTunes, as has been available in the past. But Foxtel has offered a discount for its Premium Movies & Drama package, available through its online platform Foxtel Play.

give it to us affordably, and people will buy it.

spotify is a perfect example of that. havent pirated a single song since, and am happy to pay $12 a month for the premium membership.

now for nextflix to come to australia and take down the foxtel ripoff merchants

If we could get HBO there would be no need for the Foxtel Movies package, it's all crap other than HBO's series'

agreed. another example is steam (and others like it). i dont know the last pirated game i aquired for myself. its easier to get it on steam and download it, particularly when they have a sale. and i have several friends in the same boat. who pirates games anymore??

yeah steam is another good example. because it gives consumers a way of easily acquiring the content they desire at a reasonable price.

the move to more ostensibly "online only" games, like CoD and battlefield would have also helped the trend away from pirating.

He's retired from acting.

Scared of typecasting? It's been a pretty strong performance from him - iconic.

Heard an article somewhere that basically said he brought a vulnerability to Joffrey that wasn't present in the books, and George RR Martin said he prefers the on screen character of Joffrey. Haven't read the books but that is pretty high praise

It's episodes like this one that you have to watch twice to pick up on all the little things you missed.
