Not a bad game considering the windy conditions favouring the end West kicked to in the 1st quarter.

Eagles were solid and seemed to have the upper hand for most of the game, except just after half time, but Westies kept in it. The last half of the 3rd quarter probably won it for the Eagles. West got out to a 10 point lead kicking with the wind, after kicking the last goal of the 2nd quarter and having all the scoring shots in the 3rd, but Eagles wrestled back control to even the scores at 3 quarter time.

Powell was my best for the Eagles and McGregor was very good up forward kicking 4 goals and putting on plenty of pressure. Eagles not having much luck with the key position players with Templeton going off with what looked like an ankle injury early in the game.

A poor loss. Scoreboard flattered us most of the night. Jumped out of the blocks scorewise to lead and kicked better for goal all night. Thought we messed around with the ball too much and had a few players carry most of the load. Schmidt should grab 3 Magarey votes in a losing side for a terrific individual game. Beech, Macreadie and Milne were solid. Nelson gave us first touch in ruck, but little else. Middleton a couple of nice moments on debut. Most others were not worth a burnt pie. Have gone backwards at a rate of knots since last year and don't look anything like a side that deserves to play finals currently. Mickan needs to put his real stamp on the group ASAP otherwise it looks like he's asked them to chip ball around just to rack up DT points.

SANFL Nut- I think you are bit harsh. Last night we had 7 players who have played less than 10 league games for the club.
Daniel Caire did his hammy in the first qtr, Tuck has hurt his AC, Webb, Green,Hartlett,Hardy,Birss,Hill,Still and Bricknell are all missing.
Not really sure how good we can be at the moment.
In all honesty, I think we will battle this year.......

I know you can't read too much into stats but............. looking at the stats you would have thought Westies were the better side.

Disposals 317 to 268.
Marks 71 to 58
Hit Outs 57 to 41

Although WWT did have 8 more frees than West.

I actually thought west played pretty well. And with all your missing players you are certain to get better.

For the eagles thought Bornholm did a great job rucking pretty much solo for us the entire night. Boyd got quite a bit of the ball but was wasterful on occasions. Powell and Jarrad very good. McGregor will get votes. Kicked 4 goals, hit the post twice and gave away another certain goal to Wundke by handballing over a westies player's head. I cannot believe how this guy was playing country footy for the last few seasons and that glenelg let him go.

We also lost another KPP in Templeton early. Didn't look so serious - maybe a sprained ankle - but will likely miss next week. Remains to be seen who they bring up as we are pretty think as the moment on KPP. but would assume next in line for a call up would be Mackenzie.

Understand what you are saying, however it's a very even comp and we can't afford to start slowly and claim that it's a personnel issue. Still, Bricknell, Green and Webb all played in our seconds and couldn't make our best 6 players in a loss. Caire and Tuck hurt us as senior player losses but it is magnified because our bottom end is not Top 5 standard. We can't wait another month before we beat someone.

I'd also bet the Eagles had a similar number of under 10 gamers this time of the year too.

Eagles are +23 in free kick count after only 2 rounds! At least one thing stayed the same this year...

Would Westies be disappointed with that crowd?

Given they have almost 3000 members it seems a bit low.

Given the hybrids have almost 4000 members also, I'm amazed they didn't have to lock the gates and put up the "full" sign.

All membership figures are just chest beating exercises. Collingwood and Richmond have close to 140k combined yet barely drew 60k to the G on a Friday night

Remember guys, different clubs count "members" differently to other. Never compare/take notice of figures of some clubs.
