One of my favorite players has pulled up stumps and moved to Western Australia on a Multi year deal. I wish Maxy the best

Klinger was a good player for SA, but with Head and Smith coming through and Cosgrove back, excess to requirements. Was a better limited overs player than Shield cricketer IMO. No shortage of experience in the SA side any more neither. A win/win move I reckon. Good luck in WA.

With Maxy's decision to head West it throws open the back up openers spot again for when Phil Hughes gets taken on paid holidays to overseas destinations to have throw downs

Purely looking ahead to next year how do people see the immediate impact for the Redbacks of the Klinger vs Cosgrove selection.

Well I think we are going to miss Klinger's ability to compile a double ton over 2 days, but that will be offset by Cossie's ability to be back in the sheds with a hundred before lunch on day 1 ;)

Can't blame Klinger for his decision either, first SACA sack him as captain for a questionable Overseas all-rounder then they bring back an opener that they cast off interstate 4 seasons ago and probably expected him to take less money for it....

Nothing but bum fluff in those hot dogs so it was probably good for him

Klinger still had a year left in his contract but they offered him two years

Michael Klinger
I am a Max fan
BUT
Will be 34 at the start of next season
Wont be as big a loss in the SS as some might think
Has been an abject failure far too many times in away games the last 2 seasons
A couple of big scores on King William Road last season have disguised his many batting failures of recent times
