July 2009 West hosted Sturt at Waikerie.

Not sure if South have played one since at Victor?

Sturt hosted West at Murray Bridge either the year before that one or after....

Honestly though given it is in the country and something of an occasion I would probably still go to the crows. So I guess whufc is right then.

I wasn't having a crack at you either.

If Eastern Park was having an 'event' type game on I would defiantly consider heading to that rather than making the effort to go to an away Dogs game.

Sad part is there are thousands of Crows AFL/Power AFL supporters who also support an SANFL side are who are making that decision on a weekly basis.

I also think its great that there is a game in the country and good on these two clubs for organising it. Its very smart on a couple of fronts
-gets thousand of country folk in engaged in AFL clubs
-saves any risk of embarrassment of a sub 2k crowd at Alberton just yet.

I think the SANFL should have a country round with every club playing a country game in their zone every two years.

Yeah I wasn't implying you were having a go. Just that the sanfl site was wrong.

And honestly I'm really struggling as a centrals supporter at the moment. It's weird having two teams I love in the same league. It's unnatural. Especially given the last few years I haven't had the time to go to many centrals games.

Used to go all the time as a kid. My cousin is Nathan Steinberner so we used to go and watch all the time, even when he was only playing reserves.

And of course during the period of success I would at least make it out to the finals games.

But in the last few years with the exodus of players I honestly don't know many centrals players. Which makes the crows in the sanfl even weirder for me.

Can 100% understand your predicament.

Though in the future these kids wont have the same issue as you because they will only support the one club all the way through the leagues.

Ill have a similar feeling next year. I left a cricket club on good terms to play at another club which I have loved so far in a different division. Next season these two teams will be in the same division which is going to be extremely awkard.

Huge crowd. Change for some kids to see some of their heroes from very very close up. Pretty obvious really.

How does having a huge crowd watching two AFL reserve sides benefit Country Footy. All that benefits is the promotion of the AFL. So no it isn't obvious at all. And I still don't see how it benefits country footy.

Pretty narrow view to think that the only people that benefit is the AFL.

More people attracted to football = greater chance of more kids being interested and wanting to play = greater chance of increased membership of Country Football clubs.
These kids may then be quite good footballers, they may end up at an SANFL club....

Getting kids interested in the footy that live in the area. Big crowd also delivers significant economic benefits to the club/association.

Wouldn't surprise me if there will be a coaching clinic or something similar too.

Plenty of people doing a day trip to the area too.
