Is that right?

No that isn't right. I can remember North playing Central at Adelaide on a Sunday in 1982, North playing Norwood on a Sunday at Footy Park in 1977, Torrens beating Port on a Sunday in 1978 and North beating Torrens on a Sunday in 1979 as well as Central beating South at Adelaide on a Sunday in 1979 so they certainly had stand alone Sunday games a long time before this game.

Port v Sturt at Adelaide Oval in 82' also.

The first year of Sunday minor round matches was in 1977 - 5 matches all at Football Park. Then the following year, more were held at other venues

Can remember beating them in 83 and 86, but not 85. What were the scores in that game?

Round 9
June 1, 1985 @ Adelaide Oval.
WOODVILLE
6.2.....8.4...14.8...19.14 (128)
PORT ADELAIDE
3.4...11.2...16.8...16.13 (109)

The next week, Port beat eventual premier Glenelg at Footy Park.

Go figure.

Thanks MP. Can't remember that one, which is very odd forgetting a win, given there was so few. Hell, you remembered most games if we got within five goals

9 goals from Malcolm Blight on (I think) MartinLeslie.

Thanks for yhr YouTube link of the Harris goal. Imnpretty sure this game was going later than others as I remember listening to the commentary and cheering in the car and then watching it on TV later that night. Geezus, I miss those days of SANFL, it was so awesome.

Oh, Russ...

I'm sure it was live. Maybe it was the first live Sunday game broadcast on TV rather than the first Sunday game as I speculated earlier.

RIG will no doubt have the answer and I bet I will be wrong again :)

Don't think it was mate. As mentioned in another post Port v Sturt at Adelaide in 82' was televised live. Central v North and possibly Sturt v West were others from 82'.
