Unless AV went with 4 in the mid, and rest up forward? Getting flogged, best chance to actually score would be to try and win the midfield and get it forward? Obviously couldn't stop the flooding of goals, may as well try and win the middle, if fail let them have the goal and try again? :?

Really dont know! Can't even imagine ever playing with 9

Who would want to play in a game like that? The article was a pump up of BOS when it really should have been focussed on the otherside of the coin, the AV situation. It wasnt a case of 21 v 21 that a side gets blown away through talent, it was a comprimised game, I'd hardly even want that sort of game to stand as a record, 15 v 9 or 12 is hardly a div 6 A grade game

Can't play with 9 players that's rubbish...may aswell stop the scoreboard, throw some players onto the opposition side and finish off scratch match style. At least both parties can get something out of it then? No need to kick them while they're down...being on the end of a 70 goal drubbing can't be good for their optimism and already dwindling numbers..wouldn't be surprised to see the white flag go up this week.

Shouldn't the umpires have intervened in some way as well? Reduce the quarter length or remove time off? Something to stop that sort of fiasco...

I think the SAAFL needs to revise a plan to combat games like these. I think there needs to be a deadline when clubs have to show improvement or else they get moved to a lower division where other clubs that are struggling are put.

B4 the game an official from the league was on the phone to BOS to have a gentlemens agrreement to match the players AV had on the ground. the reply was "something we will consider".
did not happen till the last quarter. i think they put 15 on there to 9.
had one player up forward and won the centre about three times in a row and scored, if i can remember correctly.
i remember someone saying to the runner what happened to the gentlemens agreement.his responce was "the Bird".
i remember the look on their faces when the game might not have gone ahead, pretty pissed.
if they didnt play i think someone said its a $2500 fine.

Apparently 20 blokes for BOS kicked at least kicked 1 goal.....the 21st player must have been a real spud.........

It is alleged that he rolled his ankle in the warm up and didn't take the field.

And why sink the boot into BOS? They've done nothing wrong here.

Maybe they should look at similar kids footy tactics - wouldn't be as embarassing on the SAAFL then to see these ridiculous cricket scores..

Agreed. I don't know too many clubs that would refuse the extra percentage here.

Also, there's a lot of character been shown by the Angle Vale guys who continued to play on when they were down to 9.

Extra % is one thing.. humiliating a club fielding less than half a side is another..

What is there (apart from %) to gain from slaughtering a side to that degree?

Nothing, just percentage.

Just don't be surly or arrogant about it.

Look, obviously AV are struggling for numbers, so perhaps after round 9 they could advise the league they will be forfeiting their B grade games for the rest of the year and they can focus on making their A grade as strong as possible by not having a majority of blokes playing both games.

Agree with Q on this. It's not BOS problem what they are or aren't up against.
