If they sacked Hird like they should have done from day 1 (instead of giving him a 2 year extension) and admitted that they faarked up instead of trying to bully the AFL through the courts then that would go a long way to saving the players.

Maybe the club believes it didnt give the players anything illegal, that could be why they are contesting so hard.
Or perhaps they are just trying to cover their arse, who knows.
Ive said all along I dont care if they were given 100 injections per day just as long as the stuff was legal

Most likely sacking Hird would have legally required a reason, and that reason would have been an admission of guilt opening them up to severe sanctions and legal action. No win situation for the club, although hard to be sympathetic when they've brought it upon themselves

I think there were 3 or 4 who didnt partake in any of the program. From my understanding there were only about 8 players that were under suspicion of using Thymosin. Of the current list of players only about 20 or so were at the club in 2012

I could be making this up (probably, it's been a long week) but I'm sure I read somewhere that if 5 or more of a team, (it may have been a percentage amount) are found to have taken prohibited substances then the entire team is de-registered.

This may have been purely related to cycling, so I could be sorely mistaken.

Has anyone else heard this before?????

Australia will get crushed... Then all the people who jump on the "football" bandwagon every four years will jump off when it's done.

Anyone who thinks soccer will take over Aussie rules has no idea about sport...

Never said it would take over

But

Who would of thought 15 years ago Australia would make World Cup regulary, have a fully proffesional league set up with its clubs performing on the international stage, live free to air tv broadcast as well as every game on TV live, potential to get 40-50k plus to a grand final!

Also remembering we got crushed at the last World Cup as well yet the game in oz has continued to grow at a rapid rate

Essendon players 'shocked' that they got show cause notices? Why, did Hirdy say they'd get off? Shocked....cos they got caught.

Fletcher was also one that didn't. Plus add in the 2013 and 2014 players drafted.

So predictably Essendon resort to the courts.

If they truly believe they did nothing wrong then why don't they just try to clear their name and their players?

Simple, they have too much too hide so are trying to get out of it with via a legal technicality, if they they can find one.

Disgraceful.

The AFL should consider further sanctions against the club for bringing the game into disrepute.

Court wont stop it. If this one gets thrown out ASADA will start from scratch and we will be where we are now in 2 years time. Think Little and the club are a tad stupid in believing it will all go away if we win the court hearing.
If the club feels they are innocent id prefer them to fight it properly, this way gives everyone the appearance we are trying to hide something

Personally have had enough of this debacle from ASADA. Would be happy for

no sanctions against any players, I believe they were lied to by people that should know better & have some ignorance as a defence

Danks to never be allowed to work in Australia as a sports scientist again

although I'm a fan of Hird he needs to take some responsibility & be banned from coaching for a while.

The club has already been fined & were removed from last years finals so that enough punishment IMO.

Time to move on.

How its possible he could coach essendon again is beyond me.

This is all getting out of hand. Why not answer the notice with the facts? Seems like Essendon are attacking the process.
