Round 13 - Central v West @ Playford Alive Oval (Sat 12/7)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Jul 07, 2014 9:51 pm

The Doggies had their winning momentum halted by the Redlegs, in the wet, last Friday night and will be desperate to keep their very faint chance of playing finals alive with a win over West...

The Bloods got the job done in a low scoring, dour affair against Adelaide last Saturday night and will be looking to build on that game and string some consistent wins together...

Nothing to do with my enthusiasm, in regards to the Dogs possibility of playing finals, still...

Ask Roy Laird if he thinks they are still capable of qualifying for the major round...

Still not really sure where we are at this year. After a slow start to the year I expected us to be really building momentum by now. Have no great confidence that we can beat a non-finals team here which is a concern. Not sure if it is strategic, fitness related or just not being addressed by coaches, but we don't run and work hard enough especially through our midfield. Not convinced we won't be out worked this week on a big deck. Will be there with fingers crossed, but don't trust our side enough on this years form - anything could happen.

West still looking for their first win away from home this season. I can't see it happening personally. Both sides have had some good results in recent weeks, but Centrals at home to get the points.
No Surrender!

An okay game by the Dogs. When we ran and broke the lines we looked damn good. When we got stodged up on the back flank, we looked terrible.
Some worrying moments in the final term when we kept kicking to Westies as we ran out of defence - in fact, on several occasions the kics didn't even leave our defensive 50 arc. But we settled and got home.

Great games by Goodrem and Glenn. Great to see Dutschke's maniacal attack on, well, anything. We've missed that mongrel and need some other players to lift in that area.

A real mum's and dad's crowd there on Saturday. The reported crowd figure seems rather high.
I've never seen so few on the northern hill. The area directly under the scoreboard is usually a home-supporter haven, but was populated by a group of Westies supporters. And the northern beer van was shut.
A dire crowd.

Yep its absolutely tanked. Grandstand was well populated which would account for the figure being higher than it looked. Not like the Crows game when the stand was sparse, the terraces sparse and the rest was ...empty.

The normal girl who serves at the Northern end told me its wet, its cold, its miserable and its west.

Had some friends join us for the first time. Kids had the channel 9 booth, the Harlequin netball team had activities going, normal jumping castle and free doughnuts. Despite the light showers all were happy.

Now if I'd known there were free doughnuts, I may have stayed near the scoreboard, instead of hitting the western terraces.
