Yeah good point, for some reason I thought the AFL Crows were playing Saturday night...

Re playing at AO it's been pretty obvious that Ch 7 has been trying to avoid any clashes between broadcasted SANFL and AFL games. They had the Norwood-Port game shifted to the Thursday and some other games have been programmed earlier. Perhaps a twilight game leading into the AFL game would've been good. But then again, opening up the AO for a small crowd might not be worth it. Plus Port miss out on the money it would've made had it been at Alberton.

Anyone know what the financial situation was for the ANZAC day match?

While I am a supporter of playing some big SANFL games at Adelaide Oval, particularly in the earlier part of the season, I actually think it's a good thing this game is being played at Alberton. It's the SANFL, let it be played at the suburban ground.

Hard to pick a crowd and of course it's dependant on weather. As I said, the Power are not playing that weekend, so I have no doubt the club will promote this game heavily. I may re assess when I see the weather forecast, but I will say between 5 and 6 thousand.

Nice of them commemorating the history of a now defunct club. Their small way of saying sorry?

Nope, people involved in the club from both sides of the oval know how the club works and the history involved. It's not rocket science

Personally I don't think it would get anywhere near that...

A lot of Crows fans wouldn't attend Port home games at Footy Park, hard to see them stepping foot inside Alberton

To my surprise I know of a few crows supporters who've never been to a SANFL game before this season (in fact one didn't even know what the SANFL was, I had to explain it to her...) and have been to most of the crows reserves games this year. A lot of those types might be going. Probably not 4k of them though.

Should probably have been programmed as a standalone on Sunday to avoid clashing with the bay rooters game.

Don't reckon you'll poach any of our crowd, fella. Appreciate the concern though.

The weather factor is huge imo. AFL fans tend to stay away if conditions are terrible. Would love to see how many Crows and Power puppets will rock up to this mockery of a game if the weather is atrocious.

Can change in five days of course, but the forecast for Saturday has remained unchanged for two days now and is just the slight chance of a morning shower. So weather looks like it's going to play nice for this game.

On that basis, I'll stick to my estimate of a crowd between 5 and 6 thousand.

Gee whiz. The weather is playing a massive part already.
Reckon they'll move it to the gym if it gets too wet? Fair dinkum.

They didn't wear pink in 1914 but I imagine they will in 2020 when we celebrate 130 years since our second SAFA Premiership and first Championship of Australia title.
