It has been like this for years. I don't think it harms the player at all ; Sacred Heart is nationally recognised as one of the best colleges for producing footballers.

Yep they are recognised in their own little school boy world.. SHC do nothing to develop the kids.. Clubs do and SHC claim kudo's for others work.. Sorry to say it as it may burst a bubble but SANFL footy is a bit more serious and important in development than school boy footy.

Prioritised football development.. Withdraw any funding and support and encourage the best to play with and against the best.

The SANFL don't fund SHC. The families of the kids do. And they sign enrolment forms that commit their children to school sport.

No matter what anyone thinks of the school system, it isn't changing and the SANFL have to work around it.

All four quotes are inaccurate and borderline laughable.
You obviously have a personal interest (read beef) here, get your facts right and learn the college protocol (which said player and parents paying the school fees are well aware of regarding club/college selection priorities).
Don't want SHC having control of where your son plays when under their tuition? Don't send them there - pretty simple.

True, but better for his development to play league football against men.

And the sooner these stuck up colleges realise this and stop worrying about bragging rights against rival schools the better....

Maybe we should stop them playing in the State Under 18 comp too just so that they can play against men. That would also suit Glenelg better?
SHC have obviously released him to Glenelg for most games this year, can't see how a few games against strong opposition for his school could hurt his overall long term development.
I'd be willing to bet that most of the SA kids drafted in the top 20 over the last 5 years played some school football in their draft year.
It's possible you are taking a biased view here.

That way they can play for poorly administered, non-competitive clubs like Glenelg who are worried about bragging rights against rival clubs.........Heaps better result.

Not going to hurt his development, but league football is still going to be better. It's a tricky situation but, ultimately, I think league football should win out in these situations.

Every time I watch an AFL pre-season game, the commentators always mention that the players drafted from SA and WA are far readier than most of the players from Victoria etc. I'm always amazed at the system in Vic. Playing at the highest level possible is surely the best way to go. What really annoyed was when, two years ago, the Eagles lost Jimmy Toumpas for a few weeks because he was playing with the AIS in England, of all places. Then he has to have surgery and miss the rest of the year after getting injured in the under 18s.

Good win North. That 1st qtr sealed it. After that, scoring was pretty even.
These are banana skin games for North so it makes a nice change for them not to fec it up. Even more so on the back of a bye

Sigh! Yet again an opposition gets a 7 goal start and spend the rest of the game playing catch up. Good effort for the last 3 quarters, and should've been within 3 goals around 10 minutes in to the last quarter, but seriously our first quarters are just hopeless.

Big game at Prospect next week, North v Norwood!

Huge game for North, will probably be in the 5 with a win as I cant see South getting within 10 goals of Port
