A kick for goal at the northern end felt like there was an extra 10 metres on it to me.

I dont normally pick out individuals, and it's rare for a really good club like Fitzroy, but this guy is a dead set tool. Abused his team mates like no other player I have ever heard. When they were 15 goals up no less.

If no 11 was Mr Ed then he has already graced the field again Alan, he played U18's Sunday. :(

Seriously morell you worry me sometimes. Luke is so calm and collected these days even his four toddlers aren't scared of him. :D

On a lighter note, maybe we could send a message to the BOS coach and tell him to rest his lads this week after their bruising encounter with IF ( PG's version ) that would give his boys 2 weeks R&R and be cherry ripe for the 2nd semi, maybe a few days in the snow like their college counterparts Adel Uni. Good call, bad call? I think he might just bring them to the den for a training run but. :D

So from an ex hack coach let me give you an overview of what I've seen heading in to finals.

BOS --- when I saw them in round 9 I went WOW, so clean with hand and foot and have a massive engine room with incredible running power. I've been saying for weeks now I thought they would get top spot if they could keep the guns together without injury and they've been able to do that. Their bonus now is they have 5 or 6 in the ressies who can play a role and 26 players gives you a great squad to take in to Sept, flag faves for mine.

West Croydon---- still don't rate em, as I have said before they let teams kick goals on them but for some reason they just keep kicking more than the opposition, maybe their secret is that you don't need names to win you just need to have belief and play as a team. They certainly tick that box big time and will play a major part in the finals.

Ingle Farm---- beautifully balanced team back, mid and forward. Their major hurdle will be belief, coming up a Division and maybe accepting top 4 is a good year, they have the cattle but if you can restrict Longy's run from defence and shut down the mids then the quality up forward lacks supply. Been a great step for the Farmers and I wish them well.

Rosewater---- they appear to have some quality out of the team at present. Their best is dynamic and what I saw from them in round 2 was just phenomenal for a Div 6 team, but frankly I don't believe they are anywhere near that at present and as previously stated by another poster I also question the coaching structure, game plan and delivery of speeches in the breaks. To be brutally honest I don't think Rosewater will be in Div 5 next season, even though they have invested enough to get there.

Fitzroy ---- they are playing terrific footy at this point but it may very well be too little too late.

Lockleys---- great bunch of people but will miss I reckon. If they manage to scrape in they will be gone the following week.

Good luck to all teams Saturday, it's been a priviledge and an honour to meet your acquaintances. ;)

Well, fair to say that didnt happen.. Fitzroys run was superior to Rosies without doubt, but the skills by foot for Rosies was sub-par which ended up being the diiference. I watched on closely at Rosewater, and couldnt find any semblance of a game plan, no structures defensively, they looked to be severely under coached to be honest.. The direct instruction at qtr time to 'Stop bloody playing on so much' was baffling, couldnt believe my ears.. Raynor had a day out and not once was it addressed by the coaching staff, who seemed more interested in what the umpires were doing than what there players or the Fitzroy players were doing.. They now likely face them again next week end in an Elimination final and have some work to do to turn it around thats for sure..

Number 11 mr Ed or whatever his name is was reported for an incident about 50m off the bal which only thwe boundary umpire saw, but it put the bloke who he hit out of the game with concussionso that doesnt bode well, but since I havent spoken to anyone who saw it, and I didnt see it myself, it will be an interesting adjudication process

They probs woulda tagged Rainer but there number one tagger was out with a hammy

Earlier in the season, the brilliant collective minds of SAFOOTY came up with the mid-season team of the year.
From that side, who stays, who goes, who comes in?

F: Lynch (Ingle Farm) Williams (Rosewater) Bain (Central United)
HF: Schapel (Mawson Lakes) Hillman (BOS), Curyer (Ingle Farm)
C: Lyons (Rosewater), Pawson (Rosewater), Johnson-Schroeder (Portland)
HB: Cooper (West Croydon), Keast (Fitzroy) , Frith (Central United),
B: Long (Ingle Farm), Nelson (Fitzroy), ?

Ruck: Schar (Rosewater), Demasi (BOS), Woodcock (West Croydon)

Int: Wiles (West Croydon), P. Gossiper (SAFooty) , M. Ell (SAFooty) , ?

From recent weeks, I think Schar may be the 3rd best ruckman, with the BOS big man (Brincat?) number 1 and the other Rosie ruck number 2.
Ingle Farm's Steve Gannell a close 4th.

Chrissy McLean (Fitz) and Cameron McKinnon (WC) would've shot right up into contention whilst Andrew Curyer (IF) has dropped off the boil.

Another smokey for consideration perhaps is Shaun Grogan from Central United. Although his returns in front of goals haven't been as spectacular as some, I thought he looked the better forward out of him and Bain, and as it shows proves a very good foil for Bain.

Should they have played a minimum number of games to be considered?

Maybe some input on defenders would be good too. The Fitzroy skipper at CHB is a beauty, Long picks himself and in the mids I reckon Sam Horsell from BOS is highly skilled running machine and Rayner would come on to a wing.
