Not very clear, not very surprised.

Unofficially there is nothing stopping the PAMFC signing players on this type of agreement.

There will be 15 year players of the club who never officially have a contract more than 1 year.

With Port able to keep their over age players until they retire 2015 will again see a difference between the Crows and Port.

As I quoted before "Contracts for all of the club’s SANFL players will only be permitted for a term of up to one year, however contracted players will be eligible to have their deals renewed at the end of each season for another period of up to one year. Contracted players will not be forced to leave the club after they turn 23, should the club elect to extend their contract for another season."

Seems fairly official to me!

Maybe a better idea would be to get rid of the 15 contracts and just have an unlimited number of top up players to be sourced from the club's Academy (remember...metro, country, Aboriginal, Father-son, international) who would all probably be no more than 20 years of age anyway.

CUTTERMAN wrote:Seriously, the AFL, the self appointed "custodians of the game" are doing their best to completely f*** up all grades and leagues as best they can. If any sport in the world needed a base model of how to disenfranchise, polarise and undermine all facets of a sport they need to look no further than the VFL/AFL. It's rotting from the bottom up and they can't see it for all the money, greed and media sycophants that keep to the beat of the AFL drum for fear of losing their cut of the money pie.

Yep even leagues like the NFL allow lower leagues to have their time in the sun and show respect towards them

If ever, as long as they keep signing them year after year they can play from the age of 18-35 or more if they want.
They would want to get rid of the Port Magpies reserves team very quickly for any impact to be felt at all

That's a big part of the problem going forward especially with the weak rule changes/structures put in place for next year, still pisses me off they have been allowed to keep this, once again a joke. As mentioned before they need just 15 top up players maximum for there AFL reserves teams (crows and power) which is what both clubs wanted, anything else is letting them have an EVEN MORE unfair advantage now and in the future. I would hope at the very least, players can't have been on an SANFL list for 3+ years and they eventually take away the leadership player. Can anyone answer who looks into the contracts/perks of these clubs, i'm sure they are looked at just as hard as the SANFL clubs salary caps....

I think it's either just as bad or worse now because the changes expected didn't happen and now we are stuck with this crap for at least another year if not a lot longer, i think most where expecting some good changes that where talked about on here but that hasn't happened imho.

I am assuming that the potential conflict of interest issue within the SANFL hierarchy (the new appointment to PAFC) was addressed in making these latest decisions about the rules around AFL clubs in SANFL.

Luck of the draw , shaping up a teams selection.
Had Port Power played Friday night, several players or 3 emergencies most prob would be available to play.
As was the case in the Minor Round

Port Reserves look to be at some sort of disadvantage in this instance

The rafferty ruled SANFL continues to evolve

Meanwhile in the VFL, AFL listed player qualification rules are being ignored to allow Ben McEvoy to play for Box Hill in the prim final against Williamstown.

Meanwhile in WA East Perth waltz straight into the GF.
The disdain that state leagues are being treated with by the AFL and it's franchises is disgraceful.
