Talk on the national game

Does H think that a football clubs inner sanctum should hold the same values of any other workplace, and do you agree with that statement?

It seems a picture of two team mates is on the notice board, someone circled it and commented in what H see's as a homophobic slur. I repeat, what H see's as a slur.

So, I ask you, would this be tolerated in your workplace?

( I'm not defending H, just want to see how people view this )

In a normal workplace, no this wouldnt be tolerated. In my football club it would be.

Why would someone of that persuasion (or anyone for that matter) be offended by the Mardi Gras anyway?

Good point smac, is H upset because of his sexuality* and it offends him or is he upset because he thinks others might be offended by it?

I'm not sure, in the context explained, how the poster could be considered homophobic.

Hate to say it but it maybe time for him to move on. A great player, and will be missed but I think its a mountain mole hill thing.

I love H for his long-legged stride down the wing, his place in our premiership side, his compassion for humanity and his position as someone who belies the generalisation that all footballers are dumb.
However, there comes a point when you're an activist, where you have to weigh up whether your campaign is actually harming the cause and whether people are taking you seriously, or not. H has reached this point - some would argue he did this ages ago.

He seems unable to listen to others, he is so dogmatic in his view point. This is not good for him, his workplace, or The Club.
Thanks for your role in our story H. It's time to move on.

Good post.

I think it's fair enough for him to not want that sort of stiff at the footy club. Whether people like it or not clubs at that level are workplaces and as booney pointed out that would not fly in almost any workplace.

But he does seem to go about it in completely the wrong way

How do you know he wasn't personally offended? I don't think we can make this assumption.

His default position seems to be spit the chewy when his outrage is not shared by everyone else though, even when he is in the right, which is probably is in this case.

Educated guess, given he has reportedly had an issue for gay members of staff, rather than being offended for himself.

So I do think I can make that assumption.

Not many of the Premiership side left from the great Buckley culture cleanse, but at least a couple of blokes rate the new model:

Scott Pendlebury is the 2014 Copeland Trophy winner

He finished on 165 votes, ahead of Steele Sidebottom (114) and Dayne Beams (112).
