Wow. If we thought the promotion/relegation debate last year was interesting, this will be even more hotly debated. Intetesting times ahead.

Echunga looked the better team all day, although Uri's wasted some chances in the third. Well done to the Dees.

Do they still need to "take their medicine" as some keep suggesting here?

Even I (the HFL defender) think it will be a joke if Echunga get relegated. LGIL has made valid points as to the relegation table & whether finals games count. Even if they lost today Echunga fully deserve to stay in central.

Just goes to show doesn't it.

Echunga with a handful of extra players win central.

Mt Lofty wouldn't have made country div finals with their 2013 side.

Great win by Echunga in a grand final that had all the elements to be one of the most memorable in history.
Sam Cranna getting the medal and Jesse Aish leading goal scorer with 6.
HFL history has now been made !
Uraidla didn't handle the heat and intensity of the match which was certainly a surprise - but a great testament to how determined Echunga was.
Jennings was player of the finals series and continued his relentless approach to the game again.
All round team performance by Echunga and one that the players and club will savour for years to come.

I thought it might take a few matches for Echunga to get the pace of Central division football....

No doubt Sam Cranna was the best player in the Grand Final but don't know that he had to end his acceptance speech with "sucked in, take that". If his team do get relegated there might be a few people saying that to him!

Yes - it was the excitement that got the better of him.
The relegation has really played a big part in the whole finals series for the players.
After today's story in the Sunday Mail the football public are now aware of the HFL debacle.
Will be interesting times ahead.

Well after yesterday's effort there is no possible way for the hfl relegate Echunga. If they try there will be a bigger s*#t fight than last year. Surely the other clubs would want them to stay up now. If they get relegated the hfl would be the laughing stock of Australian football. Not to mention that it would leave a hollow feel on for next years premiers knowing that they haven't even had the chance to prove that they were better than the reigning premier. Next question will be is can lofty add to the side fielded this year and make the 5 next year?

A revamp of the comp is now in order - as Echunga have certainly forced the hand of the HFL.
How they handle this will be a real test of their acumen.

Well done Legs Man on a great win yesterday. Well deserved. Just proves the point you can buy a premiership. It is a pity the rest of your club is shit. One trait that you don't have unfortunately is a thing called humility. That speech after the game yesterday sums up the mentality of your members. You could learn something from Uraidla in that regard. - As the Has Been has stated previously on here as early as pre season - there will be an 11 team central division next year and 8 team Country so lets stop all this dribble and crap re relegation as people are sick of it. Go the Hawks next week. :D 8)

Echunga had 3 players come into last years side with a 16 and 17 year old.
The coaches speech was great and showed where we stand.
Ivens and Delvins wouldn't play for no reimbursement so Uraidla have a few on the payroll too.
Certainly a good investment by Echunga in a couple of key players which paid dividends yesterday.
What a great win in a high pressure and sometimes brutal game .
Uraidla just didn't have an answer when the heat was really applied.

Congratulations to Echunga - it's quite an achievement. I wasn't there but sounds like plenty of niggle early. I'm tipping celebrations will run well into the week, as they should.

it seems Echungas management has put ALL of its focus into winning an A Grade flag (no worries with that), but it's to the detriment of their other grades which puts the HFL in this tricky position. Maybe Echunga are the laughing stock for buying an A Grade flag whilst the rest of their teams returned very poor results, more time spent on Juniors or adding depth in the Seniors would've ensured their place in Central Division. WE ALL KNOW THE RULES (Don't remember the Club points system being a real problem in the past). In saying that, I agree it'd be a shame to see Echunga relegated but then again, who deserves to go back if we're faced with a 10 team comp again in 2015?

If Central goes to a 11 or 12 team Comp, it'd raise more debate on issues such as fixture - who plays who twice? Hahndorf are an absolute power house in Juniors and playing them twice compared to say an Echunga could be the difference between boys getting finals experience or not.

Interesting times.....

With respect yellow and black you have absolutely no idea of how much time money and effort that has been put in to The echunga junior program this year our junior committee has done a fantastic job and the club is far from purely a grade focused. Perhaps Lobethal could give us some tips on how to build strong juniors? Your juniors have hardly set the world on fire for the last 15 years perhaps your too a grade focuse

Amen bookie. Libertel have done nothing since the late 90's! Can't comment on the Echunga juniors but lofty had to fight tooth an nail to keep juniors t the club and it has paid dividends. The bottom line is Echunga should be in central and the lower grades (both b grade and juniors) will continue to improve the infer they stay up. I have a close source at Echunga, yes they pay money, but no more than any other club! Any idiot that comments on money has no idea. The majority of clubs spend similar amounts. It's how you spend that cash that counts. Mt lofty did it well, uraidla have done it better than anyone and it seems Echunga have done well too! Maybe yellow and black you should have a look at how Loby spend their money, there are handful of players there that are not playing for peanuts!

Just to correct you there white. Lobethal last won a premiership in 2002 not the late 90's. Of the side that played in the prelim 14 players played their juniors at Lobethal with a large amount of them having played at Norwood in the junior grades or reserves sides. Our coach and assistant coach also played juniors at Lobethal . A good junior program at any club can not be measured purely by premierships but in their longevity and abilities when they reach senior levels. Maintaining a good club culture is vital,in retaining juniors who the club puts time and effort into.
I can guarantee you that Lobethal does not pay extreme amounts for players, yes there are a few paid players but they don't take too much home with them on Saturday.
