My missus's iphone 5 f**king up after the new update. Even factory restoring isnt working and there's not much info available from Apple as to how to fix it. There are a heap of people with the same problem on their forums, but no solution. Ive been sitting here for an hour and a half trying to fix the ******* thing!

@kickinit, you seem to be the Apple guru, got any tips on how to get this piece of **** shit working?

Whats it actually doing?

Its either off, or flashing off and on with the white screen with the black apple logo.

When I try to connect it to itunes, 2 different errors keep coming up.

I have restored it already tonight. It took about 6 or 7 shots before it got all the way through without failing.

Then it said the phone would restart itself, but to keep it connected to the computer. All it did was flash that same white screen off and on. It didnt restart and itunes was just staring at me like a dumb ****.

Eventually I cracked the shits with that, and thought maybe the battery was low, so connected it to the wall charger. It had over 80% charge, but doing that allowed it to be set up as a new phone (makes sense ). Went through all of that (fingerprint, wifi setup, account login) and then once i opened an app, BOOM!!!, white flashing screen with a black F**KING!!! APPLE ON IT!!!

Got any tips? How'd your ios8 update go?

Try downgrading back ios7 here's the link to the download file, you just have to choose which model you have.

I haven't updated mine yet, haven't had time to do it. I usually wait a few days to do mine, as there is a heap of people downloading it in the first couple of days. What you might of happened is it probably hasn't downloaded the update fully.

Upgraded both mine and the wife's yesterday with no issues, some decent new features

Ok thanks mate. Ill give that a try. The most frustrating part is it was "fixed" and then decided to **** up once we were all excited and I was walking around with my shoulders back and chest out telling the missus how good i was for "hacking" it....

I had issues with upgrading my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 too. I think my local backup was corrupted because no matter how I did it it would not restore correctly - would be stuck with the progress bar halfway.

I managed to fix it by setting it up as a new phone and then restoring it using the iCloud backup instead. Meant everything had to be re downloaded but it was worth doing.

I just want the result not a prolonged boring process let alone all the clothing - or lack of it - rubbish.

Thats what we're hoping for. We fly out to Sydney first thing Saturday morning for a mini-holiday, and the missus is spewing she wont have her phone to take pics and shit.

Well I had a phone that was 18 months old, iphone 5, and the lock button went on it, common problem. Made an appointment at the Apple Store, they asked me whether I had backed the phone up, i said yes, in 5 mins he was out with a brand new phone (of the same model) and I was on my way. After being very very tempted to switch to a galaxy note at the end of my contract that type of support has made me want to stay.
