City win 1-0 in front of 2,000. Strikers had one man sent off, and should've had another with the last man pulling a player down but somehow it went unpunished apart from the free kick. Never seen a game with so many good chances missed which finished with only one goal scored.

Turnbull is a very good keeper, made some top shelf saves.
Good game and great result.

Not such a good draw for United, having to play two days after their A-League opener.

Really good to see people supporting this concept

Is it a random fixture out of a pot or is it selected by the FFA. If its selected by the FFA once the comp grows legs I would really like to see the comp become completely random like the fa cup (supposedly)

For me the FFA are kicking goals left right and centre while the AFL is out of bounds on the full

The draw last night had all the A-League clubs in one pot and the federation member clubs in the other. So the first balls drawn were for the 2 a-league games and so on

Yeah not sure why but they had it so that 2 of the member federation clubs (bentleigh, palm beach and city) had to play against each other... means that at least one will go through to the semis but also means 1 is guaranteed to go out...

Imagine an adelaide city V adelaide Utd semi or even better... final! Would be massive!!!

I think from the beginning the FFA said that at least one member federation club would make the semis

Just booked a flight over for the City game, really looking forward to this one.

In fairness it's just an excuse to meet up with a mate that lives over there for a pissup .

Central Coast were the first team to book their ticket for the quarter finals last night with a 5-0 win over Palm Beach, with Matt Sim scoring a double hatrick. 2,035 were in attendance, about the same sort of crowd the Gold Coast A-League team used to draw.
