I'd be happy if my mob won 1 in 8 years. It won't happen of course but to see 1 in the next 8, I'd say any gamble that big would be worth it.

100% agree - my side hasnt won one in the past 15 years and not looking likely in the next 4-5 either - I wish we had taken a gamble at some stage to speed up the process!

Unfortunately for the AFC, they took 2 gambles - Carey and Tippett deal - and both backfired.

No more than any other time a new coach is appointed, so IMO, no.

What was a gamble was giving Blighty a broom the size of which was capable of sweeping out McGuinness, McDermott and McJarman.

This is what I was thinking when I posted that. They would have known before appointing him what his plans were. And it was huge at the time to sack all those guys.

The thing about the great coaches like him though (and Roos Matthews Clarkson etc) is that they just command respect and it is their way or the highway. They all have a bit of shit in them if that makes sense. Something Sando lacked.

Yep, Blighty certainly earned respect, like when he got the Geelong boys to wear towels on their head and call him Big Chief Malcolm ...

and putting Trent Ormond-Allen in the ruck.

He also apparently rated David Pittman quite highly too.

Have to laugh at the amount of Crows fans given Tippett stick about losing the GF

Ultimately I would much rather experience a grand final week and lose the game than not experience it at all

at least he had the opportunity to stink it up! There was alot worse then him on saturday!

Good to see you keep putting him under the bus, but continue to ignore the fact that Trigg is the main culprit of this incident... wah wah!!!

Who put who under the bus? Way to draw a long bow champ. I never said Trigg was not also responsible but the way candles handled himself during it was embarassing.

Don't take out your bad mood on me after losing the unlosable GF mate.

The Tippett and Franklin deal is too early to tell if it's worked or not.
It would have been a bloody hard day for a key forward on Saturday, Franklin was excellent and Tippett was average. But one bad game shouldn't define this purchase.
Franklin has certainly proved me wrong, he has been brilliant for his first year at Sydney... Membership is up and so are crowd numbers and he would be a fair contributers to that... Saying how he let a bloke kiss him on the cheek on the biggest stage and smile it off instead of putting Hodge on his ass. Really bothers me! Mates or not...

Tippett, just hasn't played enough footy. Shows patches of really good footy. then patches of average footy! I believe he could kick 70+ goals if fit and can get through a season without injury.

Saturday was a shocker for the club, but i am very confident it won't be long til we are back there again!
