Doolan? Ĺyon? Okeffe? Rogers cant spin or play spin How is it with all australias resources surley these guys should be able practise enough & be at least competant at playing all sorts of pitches& bowling. They have had over 200 days of virtualy no test cricket, yet cannot even turn up with the right preperation or mindset its quite pathetic really.
this must be the worst game lyon has played considering it is a spin friendly pitch. The Pakistanies played him like a school kid

Geez Jim, get a grip. It's a sub par performance and in hindsight one where we have straight out been outplayed. We will probably go on to lose this game by 100-200 runs. It happens and clearly you have been spoilt by Australia's success of the last 20 years.

Disgraceful would be if the Australian cricket team systematically injected themselves with performance enhancing drugs over an extended period and then if we had a muppet coach and he wouldn't take responsibility. That's disgraceful.

Both teams played on the same pitch. Pakis just too good and I found it humorous that all the experts on here who criticised their day one performance. They ground us down and layed the platform.

I still hold the faintest of hopes that we can grind out a draw but we would need to be 4 fa at lunch.

Bottom line is we have been schooled on sub continent cricket in this test. It's happened before and it will happen again.

Simple equation
The pitch
Australia struggle on these decks

Purely speculation :
If this game was in Australia would almost certainly win
Play this game in England Australia should win
Play this game in India Pakistan prob would win

Congrats to PA on doctoring the deck and gaining a short term win
Long term, they are never likely to dominate world cricket and be number 1 , like Australia has

Beat possible result we can get now is a draw, I hope we can show some pride and grind it out. Pakistan have been way too good, their batting in particular has been excellent. Back to the drawing board for our boys in preparation for the 2nd test.

Nothing to do with past performances.
I said after the warmup game there was some bad signs.
Our bowling apart from MJ lacks venom, we dont have a decent spinning option at the moment and our weakness against spin is there for all to see. Clarke is clearly struggling with his back and Doolan isnt anywhere near test standard.
Pakis have done everything right in this test and should have it wrapped up before tea, hats go off to them it has been a almost perfect performance by them

Australia should get Diafra Sakho to opening the batting and bowling, he would also be a gun keeper as well

That fine specimen of a human being can do anything!

Turn it up. It's up to the Home side to prepare the pitch as they see fit. If we aren't good enough then that's our problem. Long term, we won't be dominating World Cricket unless more of our players learn to bowl and play spin.

I don't watch much IPL only highlights but am I wrong in thinking that "The Big Show" with his Sub continent experience albeit in the short form and his form leading in could well be a big chance of a call up. I think he would have been just as effective as our two front line spinners were in this test and whilst he plays a hit and hope style in short form he has shown an ability against spin and more importantly has had success on these types of wickets.

Doolan would have to be on shaky ground as would Marsh as harsh as that seems.

I think even Phil Hughes may get a look in next test if they truly go horses for courses as he has actually made runs in the lead up game. This test isn't over yet but I fear the worst but if we want to salvage this series we may need to pick a one off team that can get us a result. Having said all that taking 20 wickets seems to be our Achilles heel but we all know if you can actually create some pressure on the Pakis they can fold like a deck of cards.
