And the clubs which do populate the corridors along North East and Lower North East Roads (say Gaza, Broadview, PNU, ROCS, Hope Valley, TTG, Modbury and Golden Grove) all seem ostensibly comfortable in both security of club and overall success.

@morell is it possible we've solved Mitchell Park's problem? Just re-locate to Wynn Vale :P

Haha, well its an indication only, and static at that, but there are clearly areas that have too many clubs to sustain the local playing stock - over supply in other words.

We're included in that. I think a merger with one of our neighbouring clubs is well and truly on the cards.

Do you have surrounding leagues too Morrell? The Southern sides have Morphy Parks, Brighton, Blackwood, Marion and Edwardstown also as no doubt you are aware of.

why? the populations growing. how many of these clubs have popped up recently? if they've ever survived before, they should be able to survive now.

Because running a small club is inefficient and as the bigger clubs are being run more and more professionally the smaller clubs will be out competed

Yes, Kilburn and Salisbury West have been very professional.

Pretty big sweeping statement there Jetters.

I definitely don't include Kilburn and Salisbury West as big clubs. 2 senior teams, maybe a mickey mouse 3rd team and small/no junior sides.

I don't understand how this is controversial.

Doesn't matter if your club has 50 members or 500+, a lot of bills and jobs only need doing once regardless of how much $$ is coming in or how many volunteers available to do them.

Which club plays furthest away from what the name of the club is?

For example:
In cricket we play against Keswick and in the 15 years that I've played them I have never played them in the suburb of Keswick for any grades...

They've played at (since I've played them) Camden, Adelaide, West Beach & lately Blackwood! Dunno where they are this year...

Salisbury West isn't a suburb of Adelaide, but the club is just over 600km from Salisbury West, Victoria.

Eastern Park (Elizabeth Park), North Pines (Parafield Gardens) and Central United (Elizabeth Grove) aren't suburbs. Modbury are in Ridgehaven.

I know some of these clubs have had their name since Jesus was a boy - would be interesting to see with suburb boundary changes over time if any of these clubs were once in their namesakes suburb...
