Intrigued by this comment?

Are you referring to birthplace or current residence?

Haven't heard of many commuting from country to city to play

I take it your referring to blokes who move from the country to the city for school or work or uni or what ever and play in the SAAFL. you quiet well know that people are talking about the travel factor when they talk about country players not where they grew up as a young kid. as stated already wouldn't be to many people who travel from the country to play in the saafl.

You're f****** kidding. Country clubs dont pay players to keep their clubs alive, they do it for success. Stupid comment Robb.

I'm actually genuinely interested.

Reading the forum it does seem the hfl does pay a lot of money to get players up there. Obviously there would be guns who grew up in the country and live in the city so I don't mean those blokes.

What would the ratio of paid city imports versus locals in the top comp?

Definitely more than fair to say it, it wasn't fair to say country leagues would be dead. According to what some say yeah some HFL clubs pay way too much to players. The talk is of some budgets being $200k, which is crazy. At Onkas I think we get just as many recruits from other country leagues as we do from the city. I think most good players from the country end up at the SANFL (we had 3 former juniors in Norwoods flag again) rather than the SAAFL so I agree with you that the drain is mainly in country leagues favour. It would only be a guess but the ratio would maybe be 25- 50% of the A grade are imports. Having said that I heard Uraidla one year only had 4 ex juniors in one of their flags.

Cant confirm whether he has gone or not, can confirm he is a handy big man, got thrown around alot this year as we had a lot of injuries. Its a definite loss for us if true.
