Do you think Thompson would let them pay it?

He's not paying based on principal, not for lack of funds. I think he 'd say "Thanks, but no thanks" if they offered to pay it.

The AFL has given him until the end of next week to pay it or they are threatening to revoke his life membership and his media accreditation. He is refusing to pay on principle and has told the AFL they railroaded himself and Hird and that neither did anything wrong. He also has fired a shot or two at the board and said he was disgusted at how the club has treated Hird and how the club rolled over to the AFL and ASADA, he still maintains the club should of fought harder

If that's the case (and Im not doubting you Jim) then I strongly doubt he will be paying the fine at all.

He co-hosts the TAB Radio morning sports show weekdays - David Wildy aside, there is no bigger clueless wanker on air.

its just interesting - he doesn't seem like the type of guy that would have left at 29 to chase free agency, so just not sure the reason to lock him in for so long? at a guess i would say his contract is significantly front loaded and he will be on basically nothing late to accommodate all of the young kids

I'm surprised he wanted so long

I would have thought that in the next couple of years if Melbourne don't show any improvement he might chase a premiership at say a Hawthorn like Lake or Dal Santo at the roos
