If Clarkes not fit for the first test. Ferg will be a chance to make his test debut

Yes, also got a couple of decent young ones in the West coming along nicely, really like the look of Whiteman with the gloves, hopefully he keeps improving his batting and Bancroft is opening the bat for the Warriors but is a fairly good young keeper.
Id rather Ludeman than that spud Wade though but I think Wade will get the nod

Clarke will play by the sounds of it, Watto back to number 3 and the no show **** off would be a good start

yeah I think that's almost certain. They have to be cautious with Clarke though. Rather him miss a test this year, than the World Cup

Disagree there, shouldnt be selected for the WC, needs to be stood down from the shorter forms. Steve Waugh was a far better ODI cricketer than Clarke and he got stood down.
Clarke needs to concentrate on tests only

there is no way Steve Waugh was a far better player than Clarke. Waugh only got three ODI hundreds in his career and only averaged 32

Ferg certainly looks like a Test cricketer at the moment. (Circa 1984)

On or about January 1933
Adelaide Oval Australia v England
3rd Test
The Poms hurt wicket keeper Bert Oldfield who was possibly facing the 'new field' employed by Jardine
They also gave the Australian captain Bill Woodfull a body blow

81 years later I saw something akin to bodyline
2nd new ball late day 1 today
The Ferg and Tim Ludeman were subjected to a constant barrage of short pitched bowling from Chris Tremain
The field placings were interesting
For Ludeman at one stage it was aboutish
Deep Fine Leg
Deepish Square Leg
Deepish Mid Wicket
Deep fine 3rd man
Deep point on the fence
It was mostly 2 players deep on the leg , and a deep point , during Tremains spell

I would say almost every ball was at the ribs to head area , or above head height in Tremains spell
Peter Siddle appeared ???,
He chatted to members of the crowd who were heckling Tremain
I could not lip read , but it appeared Peter Siddle was siding with the crowd

I think this was the highlight of the game today
Tremain bowling
93.3
Pitched the ball up
Callum Ferguson straight drove him down the ground for 4 :D
A member of the hecklers had this to say , very clearly and very loudly
" No wonder you keep bowling short."
There was a bit of laughter , Peter Siddle seemed to enjoy the comment, I had a laugh as well

SA 4/304
The Ferg 137*[268]
Ludeman 98*[175]
Tremain 1/67[19]
197 partnership

The Ferg played an impeccable innings
Ludeman justifying the selection of 5 specialist batters
The National selectors might just start looking at these 2 players a bit more

Chris Tremain , perhaps his skipper should have set a better field for him
Im thinking that because a fast bowler with a new ball needs to be getting batsmen out with more conventional fields
His name is Tremain not Larwood

Yeah, last night Clarke was a good chance of playing and he got a good prognosis from the doctor, Haddin was out and they were looking at new keepers. Today Clarke is having his leg amputated and Haddin will skipper the whole series lol
