Do you think the AFL would say no.

It would make more sense than the Foxtel cup.

lol if you think the AFL paying for 18 X 40 people getting carted around the nation 20 plus times along with the fact they don't want games on their grounds beforehand doesn't have anything to do with I've given you too much credit in the past!
So much cheaper/easier keeping state leagues happy and playing reserves teams out of those leagues and having a tinpot foxtel cup, its perfect for the AFL.
The NFL who make bazillions more than the AFL with similar distances/logistics to compare don't even consider it, well they did to a degree with the World/Europe League but that failed and they gave up on that.

I was surprised about the comments about Collingwood fans wanting curtain raisers as I been to a few VFL games at Victoria Park and it was a fun afternoon, even though they seems to keep on running out of VB cans. With more stand alone afl teams in the VFL, I wonder how the old VFA supporters are feeling about their competition being taken over. Interesting how many of the VFA teams will survive trying to compete against the AFL teams. Will they end up like the SAFA teams and go to the amateurs.

Im just going to throw this out in here for debate. Lets say the SANFL is getting the size of the AO pie that is being claimed. Its fair to say thet would be doing pretty well. Based on this then should we see he SANFL put some of that back into the 8 SANFL sides and raise the cap

Lets say a cap figure of about 500k for a round figure. With he additional cap space funded from the SANFL.

This would allow for additional recruiting for SANFL sides and make them more competitive against the AL reserves sides. Also the competition would be better as well.

THE SANFL needs to pay players more if it wants to stop them leaving for country or community clubs, former star midfielder Chad O’Sullivan says.

The salary cap has stood at $360,000 per club since 2012, with players earning about $75 a week in the reserves and up to $1500 for each league game.

Community player payments have escalated in that time, as some clubs spent up to $200,000 a season, according to league officials.

Gotta love how Bickley keeps referring to the AFL Clubs in the SANFL as "The State League Teams"

Just on that... What happened to McDermott?
I hadn't listened for ages & turned it on a couple of weeks ago & the 'bloke with the best head for radio' is gone!

I think many agree with Cornes' article but really, is anyone listening anymore?
The AFL & its AFL Clubs will get what they want - they have so far

Caught up with a 5AA radio personality who hosts a SANFL programme at the cricket. In short. WHAT A DISGRACE!!!!!

Went the old REVENUE argument surprise surprise.

"Do you know how much Port has made the SANFL in revenue . Then STFU if you dont. You know **** ALL". would be one direct quote.

WHen I enquired did he know how much revenue port has made cos it isnt reported in the SANFL financials. Reponse "No. But you know **** all if you dont know Ports revenue". Eventhough he didnt. A financial genius we are dealing with obviously.

Followed it up with
"how are the sanfl clubs going to make revenue with us"
"we(Port Adelaide) got 40000 to the GF last year"
"what are WE(AFL clubs) just a cash cow"
"how come Adelaide Port and the state government say its SANFL clubs that is costing the SANFL"
and ofcourse "ratings"

In conclusion. What a disgrace this sheep is hosting a SANFL show.

Looks like whilst we earn our well earned revenue for handing over our market share to AFL clubs 20 years ago.

We will always be the enemy.

Avoid this mans radio show like the plague people.

Reading the SANFL financials will prove all.

They auditor even stated 'Bailing out Port Adelaide" is the reason why the SANFl is in financial strife.

"where does all our revenue go"

Response

"Its called expenditure and every cent is accounted for in the SANFL financials"

Financials dont lie and have won myself many argument against dimwitted AFl nerds over the years.
