So terrible, I never expected it to end in his passing. Playing a game of cricket, about 48 hours later he's gone.

It's unbelievable

RIP Phillip and I hope his family has plenty of support after this tragedy.

I feel like Phil Hughes wouldn't hold any grudges towards Abbott

It's now crucial the cricket community supports Abbott which in itself will be a way to honour Hughes

Spot on mate. Was out there doing what a million cricketers around the world have done without incident.

I for one hope he doesn't walk away from the game. Phil himself wouldn't want that. Australian cricket can't afford that.

Just stunned.

Exactly, no amount of world class counselling would ever make me bowl a ball in anger again if it were me.

Agree, he shouldn't be pressured in to playing again, he needs time and whatever decision he makes is the right one

I'm holding my shit together until I get out of here, I've got two children aged 11 & 9 who love their cricket that I'll have to counsel shortly.

Shit I hadn't thought about that, my 11 will be devastated. Phil IS his favourite redbacks player after signing his cap at a Shield game last year.

R.I.P. Phillip Hughes. A gentleman of the game has passed away and is now joining all of the past greats in heaven. What a wonderful bloke and a sensational cricketer. Our best wishes to his family and to his friends. Also my thoughts go out to Sean Abbott. Hang in there mate. Get around each other through this very sad time in cricket history.

australia may have lost 2 up and coming stars. Couldn't pick another cricket ball up if I was Sean Abbott.

Just makes you think of how he would have been no different to so many of us. You walk onto a cricket field to do something that you love. You never contemplate not walking off again

Since becoming Australian Captain Michael Clarke has consistently impressed and astounded in terms of his maturity, responsibility and leadership. Legend.

I agree and the worst part is, all the times I played the hook shot with no helmet. All the times I was put at silly mid on with no helmet. ****!
