The others look like projects but if McGovern follows the same track as his brother we will be happy.

Interesting that we took Lever over Durdin. What pick did most of the punters have Lever going at?

Most phantoms I read had Lever at 10.

A great pick up for Adelaide if his body remains sound.

yep doesnt hopefully the body stays sound and he can lock down a KP spot.

In the end all that matters is a clubs ability to develop the players. Every player who gets drafted has talent but that talent has to be expanded and improved. there are always hit and misses and lucks a fortune

From the AFL website

I had Matt crouch, grigg and shaw in for Hartigan Lyons brown, didn't realise shaw was still buggered at the time.

Adelaide
B: Luke Brown, Kyle Hartigan, Kyle Cheney
HB: Brodie Smith, Daniel Talia, Matthew Jaensch
C: David Mackay, Scott Thompson, Rory Sloane
HF: Tom Lynch, Josh Jenkins, Richard Douglas
F: Eddie Betts, Taylor Walker, James Podsiadly
R: Sam Jacobs, Nathan van Berlo, Patrick Dangerfield
I/C: Charlie Cameron, Brad Crouch, Matthew Wright
Sub: Jarryd Lyons

New players: Kyle Cheney (Hawthorn)
Unavailable: Andy Otten (knee), Sam Shaw (hamstring)

Comment: Rory Laird could easily slot deep into Adelaide's defence as a small, but Cheney could offer more versatility with his extra height. After missing the entire 2014 season with a ruptured Achilles, Nathan van Berlo would return to the midfield and bring with him important on-field leadership as well as his incredible aerobic capacity. Both Jarryd Lyons and Matthew Wright are quality players who would offer plenty in the starting 21, but both can also satisfy the side's needs as the substitute. Andy Otten would be a welcome inclusion but will miss the bulk of 2015 as he recovers from a knee reconstruction. Sam Shaw is unlikely to be fit in time for round one with hamstring issues. - Harry Thring

Not a bad side Benny but if Brown, Hartigan and Cheney is your full back line you will be getting some big scores kicked against you, all 3 are average at best.
Would have Brad Crouch in the starting side before that plodder Van Berlo aswell.
Forward line looks strong and mids solid.
That squad should finish in the 6th-10th region but cant see them finishing higher, probably a year or two away from challenging for a top 4 spot

. I agree, any team that has VB in its best lineup isn't challenging for serious finals contention any time soon.

You guys might as well send Mitch Grigg back to Norwood now.

Does this mean they've given up on Dangerfield re-signing?

Dangers already walked. If he was committed to the club he would of signed last year.

Good. If Dangerfield isn't appointed, that means he's definitely playing for the Cats next year.

One thing about Walker is that at least he'll say what hes thinking and not the typical PC crap. Granted he's more of a blunt mallet than a sharp tool, but at least his presso's will be interesting.

Danger was never going to be full time captain. Thought it was going to be Sloane but I don't mind tex either. It's clear the team loves playing with him. Whether he has enough of the PR skills I'm not sure. Walsh isn't a stupid guy

PR? Who gives a shit about PR, you pick the bloke to captain the side and lead a group of men, not the one who is best at answering questions.

A captain is more than that these days. They along with the coach are the face of the club and, also, the company. It shouldn't be the main consideration but you can't ignore it either.

Adelaide have said for a while they want to reconnect with their supporter base. Id' think Walker would be just ahead of Sloane in terms of marketability to the paying public.

Talia and Sloane probably better in a corporate environment.
