From a scheduling point of view, what they have done makes sense.
Little annoyed, had arranged holidays etc, but feel bad for feeling that in the scheme of things. Also missing out on that first day before the game when imagine it will be pretty emotional and another fitting tribute, not so sure there will be huge crowd compared to the Friday.
Probably five blokes at work have members tickets and would have gone at least three days, some all, now each might make one or two.
Easy for people living in the city to adjust their plans, not so us in the country.

Don't understand and how this is bowing to the eastern states? Every test has moved except the Boxing Day test.

They could have played the Adelaide Test, started the Melbourne one a couple days before Christmas (which has happened in the past), then a week gap to Sydney and have Sydney and Brisbane back-to-back. Only disrupt Melbourne for two days rather than Sydney and Adelaide.

Not that I think they would have seriously thought of doing that. Why? BEcause it's Melbourne

Anyone know when tickets go on sale to the public? I wasn't going to be able to go originally, but change of dates now works well for me.

This might seem like a silly question, but:
I've got tickets to Friday and Saturday (original day 1 and 2).
Will they still be for the Friday and Saturday, or will they be for the new day 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday?

I'm glad they didn't mess with Melbourne.

Of course, and I agree. They shouldn't mess with the Boxing Day test.

Think you will find the Indians are the ones who refused to play the Brisbane test after Sydney. Its all to appease them as they stated numerous times that they didnt want any re-scheduling to affect preparation for the WC. They want to finish in Sydney and then get straight into ODI practice and warm up games

I can't help but feel disappointed when I hear people criticise others for voicing their frustrations over the change of dates as insensitive and not caring.

The fact is there are two separate issues here.

1. The Phil Hughes incident that lead to his death is an absolute tragedy felt by all.

2. The moving of the Test match albeit necessary is throwing a lot of people's plans into chaos.

My take on it all after seeing Michael Clarke's brave speech on Sunday is the players were definitely in no shape to play the Brisbane test.

Secondly, although it is disappointing that our Test is moving and yes I did take leave to go to all 5 days it was necessary.

Thirdly, I have heard people say just cancel the Brisbane Test. My answer to that is well put yourself in the Brizzy people's shoes. They also want to see a Test match which they no doubt planned for and paid for.

So although I have been grumbling about it at home , my advice to myself and others is " suck it up " for one year because this unfortunate set of circumstances has been born out from an absolute tragedy.

Now fingers crossed my application for a leave change gets approved or day one I will be going in disguise.

Crap. What else could they do in a World Cup Year. You'll get your refund and someone else gets your seat, everyone wins. They'll pack out the place to say farewell to Hughes. What an emotonal moment it will be when they line up on day one.

I'm not so sure they will. Day one being a Tuesday now not everyone (including myself) can get the day off work at short notice. People coming from interstate etc might not be able to make it now. I reckon around the 30k, if it was on the friday as planned would be 50k + IMO
