Reckon it was a pre determined decision from Boof, doubt Smith had much say

Disagree. We only need a draw to win the series. What happens if we bowl ourselves into the ground today going for the win and India get the runs? Risk losing the toss in Sydney with a fatigued bowling group with the series still alive....the media would tear shreds off the captain and bowlers for losing the series from 2 zip up.

Yep

From Smiths point of view there was a lot to lose with an earlier declaration and the reward very little in the big picture

If the series was up for grabs yes he batted for too long but in this situation i think they times it perfect

If we had held our catches this would be over already

According to Clarkes Ashes diary from the last English tour declarations are defiantly a joint deciscion between coach and skipper with data from others such as the sports scientists (much to Clarkes frustration at times)

it's all academic, it's going to be a draw when a result was begging.

There has been a result

The Aussies have achieved there summer goal of recapturing the Border Gavaskar trophy

Got to remember as well the Sydney pitch is probably the most suited to the Indians

And India are diabolical away from home and have never ever won a series in Australia ... 2-0 up with a foot on their throat.

Anything less than a series win would have been a miserable result for Australia.

Doesn't matter, let's agree to disagree.

Well if we had held catches, made the run outs, who knows the result may have been different.

would have liked to seen Smith declare last night but albeit he didn't, again hypothetical if we would have won.

Cant say anything against Smith, has jumped into the role as Captain and has done a good job.

Australia need to come up with a plan re Kohli though, seems to me they just bowl and rely on him making a mistake, in saying that he seems pretty much the complete player.

Overall so far we have been lucky we have a tail that can bat and score runs in partnerships and the opposition has no tail whatsoever, not forgetting the job that Warner,Smith have done. Also as much as it hurts to say was very impressed with S Marsh in the 2nd innings here.

Great to have a series win, have enjoyed the banter on here this test, i will probably be saving you all the pain of not posting in the final test.

Well done Aussies oi oi oi

This pitch was one of the flattest MCG pitches in a fair while and never cracked up or offered much on day 5

Was this just due to a lack of real hot weather?
Was this done on purpose to protect the series win?
Is it just the nature of drop in pitches?

FFS
YOU DO NOT CALL OFF A GAME WITH 24 BALLS LEFT AND 4 WICKETS TO TAKE

What a farce today was
Declaration too late [but I accept why]
And now they walk off with 4 overs to go
