They cheated legsman not due to the senior colts they played but another player. Most of the permits where ok I believe, 1 wasn't. Gotta hand it to the IB bloke who went and watched MB B grade to see if the culprit played saturday as well.

Thunderers by 10 points Friday night in a hard fought battle.

Due respect to Uraidla for their manner on the field during presentations and the way their captain's spoke in our rooms afterwards as well.

Bit early I know but any word on teams for next season?
Will Blackwood come back into the fold?
One poster on another thread suggested the Call/Bridgewater team the Beagles could be back?
Assume Milang will be a starter HTR?
Any others?

No news YOPK except that Milang will be a definite starter. We had Presentation Night recently and the lads are already planning season 2015. Plenty of interest in Pantherland but we will continue to live within our means and won't be fielding As or Bs in the near future.

Hey HTR just noticed Milang played in the Country Div back in 2005 A & B's but not in 2006, did you drop straight back into C's in 06? How are things shaping up for 2015 for the Panthers? Still C's and is there a future with A&B's again in a year or 2?

From memory Milang went into recess and didn't field any sides for a few years. Had a mate playing there at the time.

Milang went into recess for 4-5 years after 2005. We had struggled incredibly hard to keep our heads above water by fielding As and Bs but realised we couldn't keep this up indefinitely. Yet we had a core group of administrators and players with passion who genuinely believed in Country footy. We all kept in touch and when the idea of Cs was floated in 2010, we all re-grouped without delay.

As for the future: there are many aspects to take into account. At this time juniors are not feasible due to our catchment area and the interest of bigger clubs such as Strath. As and Bs are more likely, but we have to be realistic and would need an active senior player list of around 50 at the outside. Until we have this, we need to live within our means and remain in Cs. We feel there is a place for us and intend to keep a thriving, healthy and pro-active club where players and families want to be. This will ensure we are ready to take a step up when the time is right.

Is Houghton a possible? They would have 2 senior sides already. Could be a chance to grow.

More likely to go straight into the Country Div and look at growing juniors from there. Never heard of any comments from them moving out of ammo's.

They would give s/C a run for their money....

Great to see the club reform and slowly take things step by step. All the best for 2015

yes they should, but the 2 strong points are their closer to the city so easier to recruit players and population increasing more than S/C so in the long run would be more competitive. The negative, would they have to travel further in Country Div than ammo's?

I did mean to post the Houghton comment in the Central thread, but good to see the idea discussed here anyway. Sedan has had preseason games against them the last two years and have accounted for them both times, at least in the A's. But they are in the Hills and would fit into an expanded third division if it were to eventuate. The more the better I reckon.

Thought you would be along to clarify. Thought as much as well. Like the website, enjoyed reading the history section. Assume the players milestones with * next to them are still playing? If that's the case you have a pretty long time loyal bunch. All the best for 2015.

Hey Q, does the current Houghton FC claim any heritage of the old Houghton or Paracombe/Houghton FC that used to play in the Torren Valley Football Association.

Para Houghton folded at the end of the 1983 season due to a lack of players

The current Houghton District FC is the former Banksia Park Old Scholars FC, that ironically was formed in 1983 but quite separate. In 1986 they claimed the Houghton ground that was vacant and in 1994 changed their name to Houghton Districts to reflect where they were now based.
