I am stunned and completely overtaken by shock that Matty Wade didn't make the squad
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

No real surprises there

Only picked one keeper but if Haddin is injured he can be replaced straight away anyway

Obviously looking after Rhino to get him through to the next Ashes which personally I'm stoked with

Will probably train with them and can be called up at any stage if Haddin is injured.

Yes that's the beauty of having the cup here. There would be plenty of blokes on standby if someone is injured.

So starting 11 would be?-

Finch
Warner
Watson
Clarke
Smith
M.Marsh/Maxwell
Haddin
Faulkner/Starc
Johnson
Hazelwood
Doherty

Don't think we would play three left arm paceman in the same side.

Agree with what your saying

But its a funny mentality isnt it.

A team will happily play with 4 right arm bowlers but teams would have to think about whether they would use 3 left armers in the one side.

Yeah good point. They probably wouldn't even consider having an attack of Johnson, Starc, Faulkner and Doherty.

I watched McCullum go nuts again today vs Sri Lanka, scoring 51 off 21 before being stumped. I hope we get to see his best here during the tournament because I think he's the best hitter in the game today.

I thought maxwells selection was a joke. I even wrote it in my diary "Cricket Australia told a funny joke today"

I don't think we'll see him here in Australia until the final, should they make it. Which is entirely possible.

I like the squad. My normally unblemished unwavering unbiased opinions admittedly is influenced on the X factor as I'm friends with the Doherty family. I know some stats have been thrown up but no RPO and as Rod Marsh said "you know what you will get with Xavier". I loved Marshys press conference it was a bit of a throw back as opposed to the same old same old we tend to get. Time will tell on Zav but with Maxys in the team they effectively have back up. I think he will go OK. Fingers crossed anyway.

My bone of contention is you all have finch pencilled in as a certainty to open. For that to happen and if Clarke and Smith play it won't be at the expense of George who has been our best one day batsmen over the last two years. It is a selection quandary. So therefore I am going to list two teams...

Team for game one that I think they will pick
Finch
Warner
Watson
Smith
Bailey
Maxwell
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Hazelwood
Doherty

Leaving Clarke (inj), Starc, MMarsh, Cummins

Team for World Cup final at MCG
Warner
Watson
Smith
Clarke
Bailey
Maxwell - will slap a 50 off 20 balls v Afganastan or Russia or someone and save his spot :)
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Starc
Cummins - sorry Zav :(

Im torn about leaving Harris out, I'd love to see him play but think he needs the rest to make sure his body is right for the ashes.

For me Harris but I understand the body issue and with a number of test matches this year.

I would go to war with Harris but not sure about Hazlewood

I'd choose Cummins over Hazelwood. He's a proven match winner and has genuine raw pace.
