The only other formats that could work would be a 12 team comp each playing everyone once in two day games. downfall in this is the gap between the standard for some sides.

Or 10 teams playing each other once with a T20 comp inbetween to decide who goes to the country living finals.

The country living homes T20 currently is for the premier, correct me if im wrong for the 2 day comp. I think this should stay like this as it provides another bonus for the premier to go and win some coin as well as the opportunity to play on Adelaide oval. I dont think this should change. Very hard to fit in a T20 comp to an already pretty jammed schedule while trying to make to one dayers work also.

As for the A1 comp, I would like to see teams that want to play A1s play up. how this would work I have no idea.

For those of you that say its not fair by not playing everyone twice that is crap.

You can only make it fair if you play everyone twice in each format (or only 2 day cricket) all on the same surface - as fairness if that's what you are after, would also be if one game gets called off they all should.

This would mean having a Turf comp and a separate hard wicket comp.

We all know this wont happen - so don't use fairness as an argument.

I think each club should nominate to play in the grade they want to and let the executive divide the teams up as fairly as they seem fit.

This could mean a 10 or 12 team A1 comp, where you could play a 20 week season with 8 x 2 day games and 4 x 1 day games.

The next season you would play the teams you missed playing, in 2 day cricket.

The A1 reserves comp could then be squashed and go back to A2's.

When an A2's team shows some dominance the executive would then make them play up the following season.

Does this seem fair to most????

If it ain't broke no need to fix it.

Whenever u consider changes at the top level you have to work out what will happen in the lower grades hence the system we have now. When we had 10 in A1 we had 4 first X1 teams in A2 and then 4 2nd X1 teams to make up the numbers. These 4 teams went into each season pretty much the best they could was maybe sneak into 4th spot but no hope of a premiership. Also the standard of these 2nd X1 teams fluctuates so much more from season to season and even week to week resulting in outright losses, in some cases in one day. This flows right through to the A3s as well. The bottom four in the A2 would smash the A3 sides.
8 teams is the perfect number for all 2 day grades allowing for 7 one day and 7 two day games

None of the clubs are concerned with a bye, certainly thats what the delegates relay at committee meetings, seems to be only some posters on here.

bye's are great. it does suck when sometimes you have a two week bye and then it gets rained or heated out either side of that, but other than that its fine. obviously if you can do something small to eliminate byes (like maybe bringing an A3 team up this year) then that could work, though it looks like they had an even amount of teams until sandy pulled out too

Would this be competitive

A1
Freeling
2 Angaston
3 Kapunda
4 Sandy Creek
5 Nuriootpa
6 Gawler Central
7 South Gawler
8 Gilbert Valley
9 Lyndoch
10 Light Pass
11 Tanunda
12 Mallala

A2
Greenock
Eudunda-Robertstown
Truro
Sandy Creek
Gawler Central
South Gawler
Nuriootpa
Freeling
Angaston
Tanunda

This would be a 12 team A grade and a 10 team B grade.

We saw last year an A2 team beat an A1 reserves team both times - but still didn't win the GF.

This would leave the A3's A4's and A5's the same as this year - or they could be re classified as well.

At this stage the top sides would destroy the bottom listed sides, as days said if its not broken why change it. Why would the comp change to the above proposal??? And there is a big advantage between playing certain teams only in one day cricket vs two day cricket. as there is for sides playing on hard wicket vs Turf.

The bye in A2 can be fixed by having an A3 team moved up and for the A1 res unfortunately unless a new club comes in or a club drops down they have the bye.

I think the exec does a good job in this area.

Weekends results very interesting.
Most sides that won i certainly wouldn't have picked to win. Reading peoples views on changing the format to 10 or 12 team divisions in my eyes isn't the answer. While everyone can beat everyone in division 1 why change it?
Keeps players interested in playing in a good competitive competition.

What's peoples thoughts on the top 4?
Freeling - Not as dominate as previous years but the team to beat.
Angaston - Still the second best team - Relient on Bain & Ben Burgess to get majority of there runs.
Kapunda - In my eyes the real danger side - Have a good balance between young and old, Nicely balance side.
Sandy Creek - Inconsistant but have enough good players to hold onto 4th spot.

Relegation - Gilbert Valley playing Freeling, Kapunda & Nuri before the seasons end and all ready a game & half behind south Gawler. Personally cannot beleive this - still a very capabable side.
Gawler Centrals - I see them losing to many games before seasons end.

Be interesting in who can grab that 4th spot in A1R, Mallala or Greenock

Important game this week, sandy v nuri. If sandy can win and put a decent gap between them and nuri or will nuri keep in touch.
Back to the creek it is.

Perfect results today. Gilbert Winning (nothing against Kap) and South losing , let's hope this happens a couple more times this year , so that the "big fishes" in little ponds can have another good year next year.

On another note Freeling V Ango in the One day final for 3rd yeR in a row ... Should be a cracker, freeling have wood over Ango at moment, but anyone's game.

Reports that Hannun did a calf today, opens the door, gives Ango a chance as i reckon he averages about 350 against them.

Still managed to pull off a direct hit runout from about 40 meters after moving like a statue for the previous 30 overs!
