strong win by IFFC after being written off for most of the preseason and it gives our guys a huge challenge for this week..i am sure the lodge will want to bounce back hard and their game versus smithfield looks like being a beauty..

very happy with the result from saturday obviously but we know WCFC had players missing..there is some quality to come into that group and they will be a lot stronger in the coming weeks..bit of a patchy game where we made less errors and held onto the margin we created in the second quarter..

Is it really that big of a deal to forget or not shake hands with an opposition coach?

Personally, and although I've always done it, I did think it was an odd custom.

I believe it is. You are representing your club and shows respect to the opposition.

Yeah sure, I mean, its polite, but I wouldn't have thought twice if a player didn't shake my hand or wandered off disappointedly.

It's hardly a heinous enough of a crime to mention on a forum, thats for sure.

Hmmm, based on the tone of your posts, I think its more about missing out on an opportunity to rub in a good victory than it is about the opposition showing respect. ;)

Yet you see it as unpolite and disrespectful for a side to warm up at a certain end of the ground?

I think it is a big deal - just like as juniors you're taught to shake your opponents hand after the game, not be a sore loser and storm off - coaches are no exception. How hard is it really to walk a few metres over and shake someones hand?

I would be interested to know your thoughts if a side beat a team then the whole side walked off refusing to shake hands or acknowledge the opposition.. stinks of arrogance to me.

I personally think it's about being a good winner and being a good loser - no one likes losing, but to show that you have the character to shake hands, thank the opposition for the match or congratulate them or what ever is important - then again maybe i'm in the minority?

I wonder though, what if the situation was reversed? What if BL won by 20 goals as they were expected... would their coach shake hands then? What would be thought of if the Ingle Farm coach refused?

A friend pointed out the following to me which i thought was interesting:
Since Knowles left Ingle Farm after their premiership, he is yet to coach a winning side against them
Also interesting that over time in Division 6, he has a 78% losing percentage as a coach.. :?

Yeah sure, I am not saying it's not polite or respectful to shake hands, I've always done it for that very reason, but I don't think one individual missing/forgetting to do it is a huge deal or makes the club worthy of mockery and derision. If the whole team walked off on purpose and spat it, sure, but one person - big whoop IMO.

I think its poor, but more of a reflection on the individual than the club.. If that makes sense

Yes I agree, sorry i should have been clearer, i think it's more about the individual not the team.

I've always done it, win lose or draw. More about me and giving or receiving respect. I might add that it has led to some personal footy friendships that have become a valuable asset over the years. ;)

Yeah, grow up people, it's not like he refused to shake hands with Mr Obama.

Yes, it disrespectful but not worth 2 pages of grief over, FFS.

I'm sure he won't forget to do it in future though 8)
