Then you can count Shannon in that!! Umpiring IMO was shite!!

I don't get what you mean. Please explain?

I lost count how many times Shannon had arms around his head at stoppages. Caldwell tagging method is questionable but effective on Cross.

North's only behind was rushed. When was the last time a team kicked no behinds in a match?

Rd 20 2012 - South 10.1 to Norwood 14.16
There's only one other I know about; Rd 8 1993 - Port 19.2 to Eagles 14.20

Cheers spelly; I love your work.

Yeah and thats why he was reported and gave away many frees... I lost count how many times he belted players off the ball in the past 3 games. There was one at a stoppage it look like it was not much in it, probably get a game or reprimand for it. But, I must say Irra could be in a bit of trouble, hitting Reid way off the ball.

IMO umpires do not protect players being scragged when attaching the ball.
Happens to both sides every week.
Especially backs on forwards.
I always watch games from the half forward lines both seconds and the league games.
Holding arms and jumpers, happens all the time umpires appear afraid to blow their whistles
They may be scared of their personal free paid stats numbers 'looking bad' at the end of the match.
Easy to just call play.
IMO more genuine frees paid would increase the scoring and the game as a spectacle.

The radio boys said the umps were being a bit lenient, maybe due to the conditions ?

The rules don't change to suit weather conditions, nor should interpretations.

Not sure whether they are instructed too or not but it seemed at times they were too far away from the action to make the correct call

Interesting you mention this, Ive been meaning to ask if they've had a change in field umpiring processes this season. The controlling umpire is always about 20m away from the contest and it would be near on impossible to consistently adjudicate HTB's and high tackles when a ground ball contest forms.

I wasn't suggesting the rules should change to suit the conditions, only relaying what the radio boys were calling.
I agree 100% with you. A free is a free, end of
