Yeah the B grade umpire was the second worst I have seen. The worst was the old Angle Vale one.

Shame, as thus far the Adelaide Uni and North Pines ones were good. Adelaide Uni in particular - consummate professional, should umpire higher.

Apparently not. Scores were erased and MP 4.4 to Angle Vale 0.1 became MP 0.0 to 0.1

Bloody shambles. :(

Bahahaha are u serious? :)

The only person who can call a count is the captain. 29 (rule29.1) in this instance it was called by the coach.
Field umpire then instructs both goal umpires to record the score(29.4)
Upon completion field umpires then ensure each team has the required numbers
A free kick is then awarded to the captain of the opposing team offender and taken at the centre circle or where play stopped
A 50 metre penalty then imposed where the free was awarded
The umpire then needs to report to the league the infringement by 10 am Monday.

Monday will be interesting to say the least.

No it won't, what's done is done - apologies may be exchanged but that's it. Probably some information circulated to clubs and umpires about rules etc but that's it, no more.

Frustrating that the rules aren't known by official - MP should've continued to score the game as normal and produced match rules at the end of the quarter, and then lodged scores to the league and allowed them to sort out the disagreement on results.

Poor form by MP to not know the rules re: a send off and replacement players.
Poor form by MP to not know the rules re: outcome of a count.
Poor form by MP to then complain about it here.

Lift your game Morell.

Rightio.

So it's our fault our guy got a red card for practically nothing because of an over zealous umpire.
It's our fault Angle Vale have no idea about sportsmanship.
It's our fault the Angle Vale umpire insisted on wiping the scores despite our protests.

If we had of argued it more we probably would've had more sent off.

You have no idea what you're talking about Trader, you weren't there.

Come in you can't raise it on a public forum then get upset when people comment on it.

The point Trader makes is still valid - it's MP's **** up, no one else is to blame... To blame poor umpiring for the send off then blame the opposition for being unsportsmanlike calling for a count is poor form.

A few thoughts
A) Cos no one has every blamed an umpire for anything.....
B) It's not like AV have a history with their B grade umpires or Morrell has a history of complaining
C) I'd be surprised it is as black and white as either of you portray
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

I umpired in the Uni and North Pines game yesterday. The North Pines umpire was pretty good, his ongoing chat with the players is excellent.

There are some serious issues that need to be addressed with that Angle Vale umpire. However, the league is the place to go. Not a public forum...

On the other hand, the North Pines umpire would have to be one of the best reserves umpires i've seen. As fair and constructive as they come...

Were you there? Was Trader there? If not, you're both dribbling shit and I'll call you out on it. Sorry.

I'm a reasonably rational person and give credit and fault where it's due. Angle Vale were shit **** yesterday. On many fronts. If it was just the count, or just the warm up rudeness, or just the song on the oval, or just their shit umpire, or just this or just that, in isolation, which is all any of you are looking at this as, then yeah, play on. But it's the overall weight of all them combined which mixes together to form a clubs reputation.

There are good people at Angle Vale, there are at all clubs, but if they want this black ducks respect, which might mean absolutely nothing to them, then they have a long way to go in regards to how they act and behave on gameday.

I'll leave it at that.

Can't guarantee that the uni umpire will be the same next time you play as it depends on other divisional scheduling.

We're forgetting one simple thing here.

MP had more than 18 players on the field.

End of story. You can't blame anyone else for that.

It's division 7 reserves. We don't exactly have a plethora of budding volunteers patrolling the interchange gate.

We don't have a coach on the sidelines. Our manager was a player who was injured and filling in and whilst he tried his best, he had NFI what he was doing. The player in question (we still don't know who it was) after the quarter time break didn't realise he was named on the bench because I don't think anyone held up the board.

A heads up would've been the respectful and sportsman like thing to do. If we didn't do anything or ignored it, then sure, call a count. If after all of that we had more numbers perhaps listen to the people that were saying its a free kick and 50m penalty, not a score reset, rather than:

"i know the rules number 35, keep at it and it's a yellow!"

Seriously, this forum never ceases to amaze me for its inability to understand nuance, appreciate pragmatism and in general be nit picky sticklers for rules. Remind me never to attend an sa footy board game night.

So it had nothing to do with the umpire giving a questionable send off and all to do with the fact that MP were un-organised.
As a club, you couldn't find 1 A-grader to rock up early and give the b's a hand by holding up the board?

AV are an average bunch, no question, but to say MP is faultless in the situation probably goes a long way to explain the position you find yourself in.
