I helped out coaching yesterday for the first time and I tell you what, I struggled to use my bench enough, had about three guys who I just couldn't get on and really changed my perspective on the extended bench. But, if we didn't these guys wouldn't play at all, I feel for all the coaches trying to rotate each week, it's a tough job.

In theory it sounds wonderful... Yeah 25 blokes get a game, how great for participation

But like u, when u actually sit there on the bench and see how demoralized at least 5 to 10 players become, knowing they'll barely get 2 quarters on the ground, u soon cop a feel that its not an enjoyable day out for many especially after all the effort each individual puts in to prepare themselves to get there

And like u say what also a difficult proposition for the coach having to play rotation rotation rotation all day instead of being to watch the game

Did u notice or observe after the game or at club last night, the evil eyes from those who spent most of the game on the bench? A few shitty boys around?

Do Henley play 21, 22 or 25 ?

Not actually sure, a few years back they could but numbers were no where near as good. Guys just seem to pay the whole lot. I feel more for these guys after yesterday, I know for a fact they are all paid up and prob got less than a quarter of game time.

Subs encompasses a lot more than TOG. Every time you see a trainer, kick a new footy at training, get strapped, put ice on an injury, pull on a clean guernsey, get advice from your coach, have a hot shower...all that is possible because you paid subs, which generally falls way short of what it actually costs a club to have a player for the season.

An interesting point is that every C/D Grade would have the player who is realistically no good, but is a good club person and tries exceedingly hard (and if you can't spot that person it's probably you).

If only we could trust both coaches at the start of the game to name their worst player and have a mutual agreement for them to man up on each other!

Touché well played. I'm told he left you as a forward for the season and you kicked 1.21

Seems there has been an issue with eskies at clubs and SAAFL have sent a reminder to all clubs about this and having drinks in the changerooms can affect the clubs liquor licence. So. What we have been told to do is contact the club we are playing and they will be selling us a carton of beer that we can then have after the game. For as long as I can remember we have taken one carton to all games, I now need to organise someone to help us out on the games below:

30 May SMOSH
27 June Modbury
4 July Hope Valley
18 July PNUS
01 Aug old iggies
15 Aug North Haven

We are buying a carton from our club for our home games and most of us go into away games after for a beer, this is our changeroom beers!

Anyone from the above able to let me know who to speak with and I will fix them up on each game if they are happy to help out - I'm sure all clubs will be wiling to assist with fair pricing, ours is selling for around $60ish which is well overs IMO but it is what it is, we are not looking to make profit just cover the cost from the boys.

Yeah, I think if this is going to become the norm, we need to help each other out as clubs and not rip each other off.

Only if we let it be by being greedy though - I'm happy to buy the carton from the host club, like FC said as long as we don't rip each other off. We bought one extra from our own club a few years back and they charged us bar prices - wasn't happy. It's not as if it's more than one and even at $60-$65 the club makes something.
