I tipped Uni so hopefully they get up.

Will be interesting to see how the depth of our club goes tomorrow. Had a couple get injuried during the week and got a couple of others overseas.

Yeah, there are a few outs this week hey! Hopefully that's not something that'll happen too often. That being said, I am really impressed that some of the boys have been going running on non-training nights. It's a good attitude to have. :)

As for the St Pauls v Uni game, I reckon St Pauls will get up if they play like they did against us. They were a bit of a surprise - very physical, actually reminded me of teams in the SFL a bit.

That's a good week for us all of this year :?

Id be shocked if all clubs didn't have at least 6-7 out at this time of the year from their best 25 in the club. From experience the block from rounds 6-11,12 are the biggest injury wise.

Its only really happened in the past couple weeks where we are losing players. But ive been told that the club has never had the depth it does now so we will see that in action today.

we've lost our b&f and runner up in round one and 4 (full forward and full back) as well as another 2 injuries on top each week. First year that I've been at the club where we have had a bad run with injuries.

If that third quarter hadn't happened, we'd have gone down to Houghton by 1-2 goals. No idea what prompted such a brainfade, never seen anything like it. :( The first half was a cracker though.

That Houghton #22 was something - didn’t see much of him in the first half, then in the 3rd quarter he just starts running laps and keeps going flat out for pretty much the rest of the game. Felt sorry for the bloke standing him!!

Mr McSpaz said his teammates compared him to Brienne of Tarth when he rocked up today - he needs a haircut but still, jeez. Sadly at 6'0 he lacked Brienne's height to take on Hodor the Houghton full forward. :?

Lastly, sorry to the bloke whose shoes I splashed when I chucked my Coke can on the ground in a fit of rage. I blame the umpires. They were signalling 'holding the ball' and then balling it up; they also pointed in the wrong direction about 80% of the time when indicating a free kick. Are they this bad every year? Also, how the f*** can you pay a high tackle AGAINST the bloke with the ball?

I take it Mitchell Park haven't been umpired by Trev too often. You quickly learn to stay quiet, lest you want 25m penalties and yellow cards.

Seeing you are talking umpires, only saw half the game today Smithfield v West Croydon and was one of the best games I have seen by umps.
Also to take umpires further Under 6's umpire at Ingle Farm last weekend was by far the best junior umpire I have come across he not only explained, he coached, well done !!!

By and large the umpiring has been good thus far considering most umps in Div 7 are 'recreational'. Our club policy is to drag a player the moment he looks like losing it. My belief is that the umpires responsibility is to pick the ones that happen on the spur of the moment and can't be seen coming. That's fair and reasonable. Then let the game flow and pay the obvious.
I do however has some issues with incompetence and over officiousness. That said the work being done by the league to get umpires to have more interaction between coaches captains etc pre game is commendable and appears to be working, maybe we should get our supporter groups to come and listen in. It might give those 100 odd umpires on the sidelines with a tinny in hand a better understanding. :D

I remember seeing Trev and Lindsay pair up a few times to out-idiot each other, he's just the same when he's umpiring Under 6's, I strongly doubt that he could have a facebook account.

Still feeling it today as some of those blokes hit pretty hard, but was a good couple of wins at the "sheep farm dung hill" aka Houghton Oval. We would be lying if we said we didn't bring that up at training during the week lol... 8)
