Scored really well this week - pretty happy with my team. Then I look at the bye situation........currently got 9 non-playing players on field in rnd 12......ouch. Anyone else got massive rnd 12 issues?

That's probably a good thing OCP. You must be full strength in Round 11 & 13 and can assume you will go 2-1 through the byes?

Each year I plan for them... score OK across the 3 rounds, and typically end up 0-3! ](*,)

Round 8

Has Been vs. Ben Rolfsburgers – MATCH OF THE ROUND

The Rolfs aren’t a happy camp at the moment. Sitting pretty on top of the Hogg scoring rankings you should be happy right? Wrong. Check out the table, the Rolfs are sitting in 11th spot. Things could get even wors this week because Has Been is a team that can match them in scoring. I reckon these two teams could top the scoring this week. I reckon the Rolfs will be second in the league for scoring in the round, top in the Hogg and drop even lower on the ladder ha ha. My tip – Has Been.

REBCats vs. Squeakeroos DTC

The Cats were simply horrible last week and can’t go as bad again this week. Or at least I bloody hope so! This is an important match for both teams with a win here going a long way to easing any prospective relegation worries. Both sides have had luck in the fact that the opposition aren’t scoring heavily against them but the time for acquiring victories has come for both. Seeing as I’m up and down like a Yo-Yo, I reckon it’s time for an up week..and a win. My tip – REBCats.

Buddy Franklin vs. Peptide Army

Another side who is riding the roller coaster this season is the Peptide Army. I know this because they have scored the exact amount of points as my mob, at least during the head to head period. One week the Army look like world beaters and the next they are roadkill. Standing in the road for Hammo this week is Buddy Franklin who have been the more consistent side. Seeing as the Army are up and down like a Yo-Yo, I reckon it’s time for the down week…and a loss. My tip – Buddy Franklin.

Honey Badgers vs. Hondo SCC

The Badgers roared back into life and back into contention last week with a smashing win and will be keen to continue this sort of form. This weeks opponent Hondo is on a bit of a roll though and he could be hard to stop. The Badgers look a bit more menacing than they did a few weeks ago but I think Hondo can add another scalp to his growing collection. My tip – Hondo SCC.

Cotch Lickers vs. Cork in the Ocean

Almost match of the round this one. Cotch has been scoring very well in recent weeks and has been rewarded with a winning streak and a spot in the top eight. Corky has overcome a bit of a mini-slump to again get the scoreboard ticking over so this should be a high quality clash. The momentum appears to be with the Cotch Lickers at the moment so I’ll be tipping CoverKing and getting on board the bandwagon. My tip – Cotch Lickers.

SHARKS vs. Longwood Lions

I’ve been singing the SHARKS praises all season long in The Piglet Times as well as in these previews and it’s hard to see him dropping this one to SHARKfood Longwood Lions. The Lions aren’t a bad side and have improved on last year’s model that just avoided the drop but they still retain that habit of struggling for wins and already the ladder doesn’t look flattering. The Golden Greek should add another win here. My tip – SHARKS.

Les’s Men vs. wycbloods

Once again the bloods are back on the bottom of the ladder and the fixture has done them no favours here. The solid Lezzes are next on the menu so it looks like there is no end in sight for wycbloods. Just when there is light at the end of the tunnel it turns out to be the headlights of a train. That train is the Les’s Men express and it won’t be stopping at this station. My tip – Les’s Men.

Q Before You vs. Eckys Fevolas

The Eckys finally got going last week but the Q Man has been bowling within himself as well yet winning games which Ecky has only just started doing. Can Ecky out-pimp his side to the degree that he can win a match against that tinny Q? Yeah…nah, I’m tipping the Q Man again but seeing as I’d like to stay ahead of Ecky Q might get done just to troll me. My tip – Q Before You.

Underdogs vs. Captain Who?

Sorry chaps forgot one in the previews again.

With both teams sitting on 170 with two players used it's neck and neck so far. Looking at the two teams I reckon the Dogs can belt out to a bit of a lead which Groover might find hard to pull back. The Captain still has Harry LaSpudba and other unreliable types such as Hunt and crisp while the Dogs look pretty solid throughout. I'm sure Groover will be pretty happy that I'm tipping against him given my tipping record of late but for me this is an Underdogs victory. My Tip - Underdogs.

Henderson is out again for me this week. Uncertainty there has shelved plans I had to off Lumumba. So I go into this round with one more rookie on field than I intended not that Hendo has been scoring brilliantly.

18 wycbloods 2 6 0 16392 17372 94.36 8

For the first time in 2015 Hogg Premier League started scoring the kind of scores that were reasonably common last season. Of course the big problem this year is the demise of G Ablett as everyone's perma-captain. With Nat Fyfe now filling in that role and with some massive scores from the popular Nic Nat and the less popular Hodge, Shaw and Danger some massive scores got carded this weekend. No less than eleven Premier League coaches scored more than 2300 with several coaches getting that and losing.

In the preview above I had a bit of a joke at Rolfs' expense and the karma bus hit me hard. Squeaky, who has been struggling to score 2000 most weeks went BANG with a massive 2541 to earn a percentage booster in a week where the REBCats got their best score of the year. Hondo also topped 2500 as they smashed the battling Honey Badgers. The Rolfs score of 2400 plus was enough to get the job done against (still) top of the ladder Has Been and this high scoring team is now deservedly back in the eight. No more jokes I promise. :(

Not everyone caught the gravy train though. Peptide Army only scraped the 2000 mark and once again wycbloods was on the wrong end of the ledger with his 2192. The SHARKS have gone off the boil in recent weeks and it is ironic that a side that was scoring 2300's when everyone else couldn't could only manage 2129 when everyone else could with the Longwood Lions cashing in.

It's been a fascinating season so far in the Hogg Premier League....only hope I'm going to be around to see the next one!

Hi All,

I am back in one piece and have not been gored also survived the tank operations in Northern Europe. So now to concentrate on SC.
I am happy with the 3 - 5 ratio considering and my team seems to be getting back into better form without me.
The good thing is I still have 25 trades and now have plenty of time to work on bye strategies.
With the look of the ladder I hope I can now avoid relegation (first priority) so I now need to use these trades and the 0.5 m I have stashed usefully. (Q looks like Rocky will have to go!)
I for one am sure glad Darksiders is not here this year but challenges against others and in particular Q and Hondo await.
But one week at a time, I wish all well for the rest of the season.

Round 9 Preview

The scoring went up in a big way last week in the Premier League with several teams laying a strong claim on the top eight in the pre-bye period. Some of the top teams like Has Been and SHARKS had a bit of a stumble while the Cotch Lickers continued with their recent good form.

Bottom eight sides had costly losses last round with Ecky’s Fevolas, Honey Badgers and in particular wycbloods starting to feel the pinch. Last round wasn’t a good one for Peptide Army and REBCats who conceeded the biggest score of the season. A massive round for all the teams mentioned this week.

Just for a change no byes this week so everyone can get BU-SY!

Les’s Men vs. Ben Rolfsburgers - MATCH OF THE ROUND

Ben Rolfsburgers has another tough match but should acquit themselves well just as they did last week in their win over top side Has Been. Les’s Men are another top four team that should be very wary of the Rolfs now that they have that winning feeling back again. In what should be a very high scoring match I reckon Ben Rolfsburgers can get another top scalp, but with matches involving the Rolfs any result could get thrown up. My tip – Ben Rolfsburgers

REBCats vs. Captain Who?

The Captain has been all over the REBCats at a time when Groover has been a top four mainstay and the REBCats have been in a slow decline. The Cats fired up last week but were outclassed again and this could be a crucial loss for our surivival hopes, let alone top eight aspirations. There are more than a few offbeat selections on both sides but the Captain look the better combination. My tip – Captain Who?

Buddy Franklin vs. Squeakeroos DTC

Squeaky ambused my REBCats last week but can he do the same thing against Buddy Franklin this week? Buddy has been the superior side all season but Squeaky proved last week that he can go big. I am a sore loser who reckons Squeaky jagged it big time last week and now he’ll go back to spudding it up now that he’s finished flogging my sorry arse. My tip – Buddy Franklin

Honey Badgers vs. Underdogs

Honey Badgers had a short lived revival but went down last week and this sent them tumbling back towards the arse end of the ladder. Meanwhile, for the first time in a couple of seasons the Underdogs are once again winning Premier League matches. I think this trend will continue with Sharksta going on to record another win. My tip – Underdogs

Cotch Lickers vs. Peptide Army

Not much went right for the Army last week after Jordy Lewis’ late out threw Hammo a bit of a curveball..if only he stuck to Sydney’s famous ‘no dickheads’ policy! Meanwhile, CoverKing could fall into a bucket of shit and emerge holding a Diamond with the way he is travelling. As someone who can’t seem to generate any, I understand the importance of momentum and unfortunately for Peptide Army a forecasted improved effort won’t be enough to stop a rampant Cotch Lickers. My tip – Cotch Lickers

Has Been vs. Hondo SCC

Has Been suffered their second loss of the season last week but scoring patterns suggests that perhaps the 6-1 record flattered them a little. Meanwhile, Hondo has emerged from a tardy start and now they are looking like the Hondominators of old with wins flowing from the bat as they start to get on a real Bomber Thompson sized roll. Not sure why I’ve gone off the Beans but I feel a change is in the wind. My tip – Hondo SCC

SHARKS vs. Cork in the Ocean

The SHARKies have jumped the Shark and will find it hard to find a decent feed in Cork in the Ocean. Spiro still has a handy combination but that edge that set him apart in the first few rounds appears to have gone as the other coaches have ramped up their scoring and the SHARKS have failed to respond. Have the SHARKS got another gear to go to here or is wait and see till the byes? I reckon Cork in the Ocean will bob up with a win. My tip – Cork in the Ocean

Q Before You vs. Longwood Lions

Alaska is back from his running with the Crocodiles and wrestling Bulls safari at Krugerperloma. Funny thing is, his team has been going OK with him gone. Now that he is back he has trades up his sleeve and money to burn. For the first time in a few weeks an advantage that Q has had will not be available to him. Now that Alaska is back though, he can go back to stuffing up his team so I’m all over Q here. My tip – Q Before You

Ecky’s Fevolas vs. wycbloods

The loser of this clash is in deep diggerdo with the winner being thrown a lifeline. Bloods have not exactly been flowing…it’s been a bit more like a clot this season as his team has lurched from one disaster to the next. He’s had to plug more holes in the dyke than Ellen Degeneres so I’m going to select Ecky’s Fevolas to kick on. Yep, this week Ecky is the favourite. My tip – Ecky’s Fevolas

18 Honey Badgers 2 7 0 18685 19388 96.37 8

Has Been has snaffled a break on the field after the 9th round of the Hogg Premier League. The Beeners held off a strong challenge from the in form Hondo who suffered their first loss in a few weeks. Hondo heads a massive pack of teams on 5-4 with just the one win separating second ranked Les's Men from 11th ranked Cork in the Ocean.

With Les's Men, Hondo and Q Before you all losing, Bens Rolfsburgers made their move. They've been scoring well all season and now the wins are starting to come. I reckon he has to make the top four now but you can see how tight the ladder is so he won't be wanting any slip ups over the bye period. Underdogs and Squeakeroos DTC are also on the march. Underdogs have been looking good but Squeaky has recovered from a slow start and has backed up their big win last week with another and now they are in the top eight. Nice comeback by Squeaky there.

The Cotch Lickers' good run of form came to an end against a plucky Peptide Army who emerged from the shadow of relegation to post what might be a season-saving win. Four wins is about the minimum you would need to challenge with such a large group of teams on 5-4. That is too many results go the way you want if you are down with the struggling REBCats and wycbloods who somehow got a win with a score under 2000.

Longwood Lions look set to have their best Premier League season after they defeated Q Before You but all of a sudden the SHARKS are looking vulnerable after racking up another loss, this time to Cork in the Ocean. At the bottom of the ladder Honey Badgers and Eckys Fevolas added another loss to their growing collection with Ecky in particular looking wobbly after recording only 1856.

Round 10 Preview

The first of the bye weeks is upon us and there are some huge matches coming up for teams hoping to get back into the competition if they've stunk up the place or to consolidate if they've started well. Already we've seen a few fluctuations in form lines and momentum but the bye period can throw up some really funky results. By the end of the bye period you'd expect most teams at this level to almost have 22 pretty good players on the field.

Les's Men vs. Hondo SCC - MATCH OF THE ROUND

Both of these teams appear to be set up pretty well for this bye round with Les's Men opting to retain Rockliff at this stage but he would want Tom McDonald to return to scoring form sooner than later. SC Gold Projections has Hondo the winner here but some of his additional players such as Krak and Belch will be non-starters this weekend. I would think that Les's Men are good enough to defy the projected scores and post a win on the back of more fit men available as i reckon he will move on Vandenberg as many coaches will this week. My tip - Les's Men.

REBCats vs. Buddy Franklin

I'm going against SC Gold in this one as well as that has my REBCats getting over the line. I reckon I might come up short as players such as Newnes and Griffen are horribly unreliable and both have cost me at times this season. The return of Watson into the Buddy Franklin lineup swings this match his way as his midfield looks a lot stronger than mine. Another worrying loss for my boys as the relegation monster is lurking under my bed. It would help if I could get my captain right though. My tip - Buddy Franklin.

Honey Badgers vs. Captain Who?

Both of these sides have projected scores over 1800 which is the norm for Hogg Premier in the first bye round so this match will be tight. A quick look at the sides shows that the Captain has more than a few red crosses in his line up so he might struggle to make his projected score. The Badgers will miss the twenty points for every time Patrick Dangerfield scratches his balls or gets up grimacing but he should be able to post a winning score and jag a much needed victory. My tip - Honey Badgers.

Cotch Lickers vs. Squeakeroos DTC

Squeaky is looking especially vulnerable here according to the projections that have him only reaching 1408 which is nearly four hundred behind what Cotch Lickers are expected to score. Now we all know that projected scores are often quite unreliable but they aren't 400 points unreliable so Squeaky will need to pull some fancy moves here to make up that kind of difference. But pull away he will and he'll give CoverKing a scare but it's the Lickers who will be tasting victory this weekend. My tip - Cotch Lickers.

Has Been vs. Underdogs

Has Been, um...has been a heavy scorer all season in the Premier League and are second only to the Rolfs in scoring since the head to head matches began. They sit on top of the ladder and they've got Sharksta's Underdogs covered by 300 points in scoring during this period. However, the Underdogs along with the Cotch Lickers are the form teams of the comp with four wins in the past five rounds which is quite a feat in this very competitive league. The projected scores has Underdogs getting the job done by around 70 so this one will be decided by a good captaincy call or an unwanted vesting. Almost impossible to tell which way this top eight clash will go so I'll stick with recent form and tip Gibbo. My tip - Underdogs.

SHARKS vs. Peptide Army

Hammo reckons he is going to tank this match and let the SHARKS be the one that got away. However, I reckon he is a wuss if he doesn't have a go here because he doesn't need to make up all that many points in order to unseat a team that has lost its way in recent weeks. Some of the points allocated to Spiro's projected is being made up of Vandenberg, Clark, Bellchambers and Bennell. Add to that, a rested Watson will take his place in the Peptide Army this week. Having said all that, I reckon Troy's mind is made up and he'll be doing everything possible to avoid Football and SuperCoach this week. He's an Essendon supporter so not that hard really. For that reason I'm selecting Spiro to get back on the winners list. My tip - SHARKS.

Q Before You vs. Cork in the Ocean

After a bright start to the season the tide has gone out for Cork in the Ocean and they are now sitting in unfamiliar territory outside the top eight. Q has the higher predicted score but he's got some of the same guys who have had me going crazy all season like Griffen, Lamuumba, Parker and Belch and Corky also has the advantage in players available pre-trading. While I'm sure Q would love to be able to put a nail in Corky's coffin and going to annoy Interceptor and tip him again. This time I reckon I've got it right. My tip - Cork in the Ocean.

Ecky's Fevolas vs. Ben Rolfsburgers

The bye week has leveled the playing field a bit between these two sides and if Ecky wants to stay up this year he has to make some major moves to take advantage of the situation. If Ecky can score a win over the mighty Rolfs then that could ease his relegation woes considerably. Eckys have the pre-trade numerical advantage and there are a lot of players in his squad that are proven players that are 'due'. So as more of a hunch rather than hours of patient research (as I CBF), I'm going the upset. My tip - Ecky's Fevolas.

wycbloods vs. Longwood Lions

The Lions have been impressive in recent weeks with three wins in five games and some pretty good scoring throughout this period. The bloods have struggled for consistency with just two wins in their last eight although they did win last week so perhaps they have turned the corner. The projected scores rates this match as the closest of the round but I reckon it's way off in this game. The bloods has Belch, Krak, Miller who appears to have jumped the shark, Newton and Brooksby. That's a whole lot of suck right there. Brooksby would have brought in to provide coverage but right when he is needed he is an out this week which is bad news for Belch owners who haven't traded him yet, let alone those that have both. I reckon Alaska can put another win on ice. My tip - Longwood Lions.

After the first round of byes most of the Hogg Premier sides manage to top 1900 and the top eight is starting to take on a bit of a settled look with seven sides going at 6-4 or better. Eighth spot appears to be up for grabs however as the SHARKS continued on their losing run after they suprisingly dropped their match to Peptide Army who were prepared to concede the match mid week.

Underdogs and Hondo also came a cropper as Cork in the Ocean in particular jumped out of nowhere to be sitting in 6th spot. This week's win by Corky could be a real turning point in his title defence. Buddy Franklin jumped into the top eight as they put in a stunning Sunday to defeat the REBCats who looked home and hosed last night. Despite scoring bugger all points this season, Squeakeroos are now sitting in the top four and are looking a bit like Collingwood this season. Everyone is thinking what the hell but they keep getting the job done each week.

wycbloods managed a crucial win against Longwood Lions as both teams battled for points but it was all bad news for the bottom three who are now genuine relegation candidates. Eckys Fevolas were especially stiff after scoring an impressive 2036 but getting rolled by the leading scoring team in the league, Ben Rolfsburgers.

In conclusion **** you Ryan Griffen. That is all.

Les seemed to have few or no R11 bye premiums whereas I have 5 plus I had Bennell missing

I was no chance from the first moment I looked at our matchup
In between signatures .....
