Rnd 9 - Sturt v Adelaide @ P.Motely Oval (Sun 7/6)

Postby Big Phil » Tue Jun 02, 2015 10:02 am

The Double Blues are coming off a loss where they recorded their lowest ever score against the Eagles while the win-less Adelaide SANFL side were beaten by the Bulldogs in a low-standard clash at Elizabeth...

Adelaide may be bolstered by returning players at their AFL level so their state league side may have some handy inclusions...

This game could be closer than some may anticipate...

My tip is that we'll struggle to get 2000 to the game, probably more like 1500 due to it being a long weekend. I probably would give it a miss but going to the pre game lunch.

Sturt should see this game as a chance for them to leapfrog South for 5th spot. That should be enough motivation.

I've seen some great footy by the Blues at Peter Motley Oval this year. We have also been patchy at times yet still come up with the two points. It would be great to see us put together 4 quarters of our best with the twin goal sneaks Hone and Penfold taking home a big bag between them. Coad will need to fire as his best is very hard to stop and Kurtze, like a fine old Cab Sav is nearing his best vintage and been a real solid performer this year. There's been a consistently reasonable turn out of home support this year at old Unley Town and I'm tipping a crowd of about 2,000 Sturt supporters and a serious half handful of ravens, relatives of the players perhaps, to round attendance out to around a big 2,005.
Go You Mighty Blues!!!!!
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Crows first win of the year coming up I think.
Crouch, Douglas and Lyons will dominate in the midfield and give the forwards enough chance o kick a winning score

Oh I see, in the game of AFL roulette we have gotten the chamber with the bullet in it have we? Everyone else plays a crap version of the ravens and we get the beefed up version.
I'll still be there cheering them on, all we can do is beat whoever they put on the park against us.

Can I turn this into a philosophical discussion about my mum supporting two teams in the same league? :)

The tip to beating the stronger versions is physicality, the Reserves sides hate tough physical games. I know speaking to a few of the players that they really push the limit and even cross the line when it comes to physicality, especially against the younger first or second year recruits

Just to summarise, crows have their three or four worst players of about amateur level, replaced by three or four fringe AFL players, but it might work in our favour because the crows might manage their players by resting them during crucial stages of the game AND we may be able to just rough them up a bit and they might question if it's really worth their while trying to win what is just a reserves game for them.
Have I got that right?

If you're truly seeking philosophical discourse about your mum on a footy forum, then plural support in the same league is probably not the worst of your problems.

Just a thought. :D

Now edited with emoticon - just for you.
