Interesting start to the season with both grand finalists from last year Ironbank and Uraidla losing both their 2 games thus far. Has any one seen any of the games and can give a report on them. ie standard, numbers of players and how the season could unfold results/premiership table wise.

I moved to the Hills in 1990 with no previous involvement in HFL. Milang had won a C Grade Premiership the previous year (1989) but I'm unaware of any history prior to that. Trophies, flag etc. still in the Clubrooms.

No muddy boots on the porch this year and no regrets about filthy nights at Ironbank or Uraidla :-)

Panthers look good this year. I saw round 1 against Mt. Barker and they were very competitive until running out of legs in the last quarter.
A good win against Uraidla in round 2. I would've been pretty chuffed with that given the bad conditions v Milang's preference for big, dry, grounds.

Too old, too tired, but looking forward to a huge year behind the fence for the first time in many years.
Very heartening to see C's respected as a Division in our own right. Really looking forward to the comp, watching the game, looking at best players and seeing it from a different perspective.
Players win awards. Teams win games. Clubs win Premierships.

Coooeee there YOPK. I was just about to post here too. Must admit to being very slack this year and seeing all games from behind the fence as planned. I think we should re-activate Div 3 news as the standard is much higher this year, probably due in part to official recognition by the League. Watching games from afar has been educational to say the least and I think the standard is much improved. Summation so far:-
Blackwood - powerful as always and no other comment. Ironbank:- play a great team game and their voices on field win for them. Milang (a bit of bias here):- young, focused and have a good core-player group. Playing really well on wet grounds which has been a monkey on back in recent years. Capable of finishing in top 2. Uraidla:- I've only seen twice. Both times really struggling and deficient in attack. Mt. Barker:- Very disjointed with different faces every week. Seem to cop a lot of injuries. Lobethal:- Good to see plenty of kick left in some of the old lads. A good shot at Cs, which is what we're about after all :-)
Players win awards. Teams win games. Clubs win Premierships.

Good to see you posting, thought you had retired from the board as well as playing. Slowly going thro the history of the league and they had given out Mail Medals back in the 70 and 80's. Bit disappointed to read in the paper on some occasions no goalkickers or best players.

Milang 10-11 over Uraidla 8-2, give or take a point or two. Both sides really stepped up and played their best footy. First half belonged to the Panthers with the younger lads too fast for the Cabbages. A good fight back for Uraidla in the second half with a re-shuffled attack but not able to catch the Panthers who had plentyof legs and kids on the ball. Milang would have to be very chuffed with a couple of youngsters who wandered to the club looking for a game. Great to see such a high standard of footy and the ladder reflecting the scheme of things as it stands in Cs. Panthers now right up there in the top three and will not finish lower.

Not sure why our scores don't appear on SP. Ladder is unchanged by my calculations and the gap between top and bottom three has widened.

I saw all 3 games on Sunday. Cs really has moved ahead and the comp is very worthy of it's elevation by HFL. Very impressive and well worth a look at free footy with plenty of support and a great atmosphere.

After the Uraidla/Echunga game and scores.
Did the Milang/Uraidla game go on?
What was the result if so?
What was the condition of the ground like?

Yo there YOPK! Apologies for being so vacant on this site all year. Have had repeated log-in issues from a new device.

Milang over Ironbank by 4 goals yesterday. The margin was as wide as 8 goals for the Panthers with Ironbank failing to score a goal for nearly 2 quarters. Ironbank were assisted by plenty of hot wind from an assembled and uniformed Blackwood side behind the fence. Good to know they'd rather not play us.

So the Mighty Milang Panthers play Blackwood at Blackwood's home ground (funny that!) in the Grand Final on Friday night, Aug 21st. under lights (funny that too!).

We will go into the game fielding a team full of lads who play for the jumper, who do it for nothing and who don't have B's and A's to stack from.

GO PANTHERS! If you believe in genuine C's, be there for $2 on Aug. 21st and support real C grade footy!

Great to see a club like Milang playing within their means in a suitable comp & making the final. Are the rules sufficient so Blackwood can't stack their side for the final or are there loopholes that will allow for manipulation from them. Good luck to Milang either way.

Cheers for the support YOPK and Cracka. Yes, there are loop-holes for Blackwood which can never be monitored, but that's the nature of the beast. Very easy for a very big club to have a full Cs bench each week with players who aren't recognisable because there are so many of them. Very easy to put B Graders or even rehabilitating A Graders on the Team Sheet and bench enough times to qualify for finals when all they do is just sit there. Then they appear on the big day.

Without spitting the dummy here, a night Grand Final at Blackwood was never going to be fair to Milang and one has to wonder why this has happened. Our local boys face up to 90 mins travel time straight from work. Fair go. Why not play Sunday which was supposed to be one of the recommendations for Cs.? Callington Oval is always in great condition at this time of year and it's fair distance for all clubs. Surely the League must have known the power of Blackwood when they programmed 2015?

To their credit, the Milang boys are totally chuffed to be playing in a Grand Final. They have worked hard all year and feeling honored to be rewarded as a team of country lads just wanting a kick.

Good luck to the Milang boys - hope you can get up!

Pretty average decision having it scheduled at one of the competing sides home ground - plus the advantage that home side gets with sides playing in the grades above C 's and being able to manipulate the system with players.

Who makes these decisions ?

Surely a neutral ground could have been utilised in a geographical location between both clubs - both Hahndorf and Echunga have suitable lights.

Go the Panthers - Echunga will be hoping you win.

Cheers for the support lads! Regarding the decisions; these are made by the HFL. Because Milang stands alone and only play Cs, our voice is very limited in the scheme of things. All other competing clubs are from Div 1, hence more voice, more considerations, more presence, more power and (dare I say it) more $. Enough said.

We would be chuffed if all footyheads who are into grassroots footy would come and support us on Friday night, Aug 21st, 7pm at Blackwood Oval. We'll give it our best shot and will play lads who have been with us all year. Tell the gatekeepers you support the Panthers and feel free to support us near our bench and in the huddles. :-) :-)
