How did 'the recruit' play?

Is he a chance for an afl call up late in the season now the power are shot?

No, not at all. 6 touches, 1 mark and 1 goal playing half forward in a 41 point win.

Surely you are taking the pi$$?
Eugene Warrior more chance of getting a call up, its sad that Port have to gift Wagner a game because if he was at any other SANFL club he would be playing ressies. Long way off playing AFL

Looks a bit of an athelete but just doesnt seem to get enough of the ball looking at the stats. Doesnt seem to win much contested possesion or take an overhead mark either.

Good call - he's taken two contested marks all season for a total of 30 at an average of 3.0 per match. He's kicked 10.6 in 10 matches, averaging 5.0 kicks and 4.4 handballs per game, and his efficiency by foot is 58% and by hand is 73% - both below the league average. His disposal average of 9.4 per game is the worst for anyone at Port to have played at least 10 matches.

He averages 4 contested possesions per game and 6 uncontested possessions. A CP-rate of 40% is pretty good when you're getting 30 uses of the ball per match, but pretty inferior when you're only getting 9.4 touches in total.

Anyway after that torching, I'm sure he's a good bloke.

When you said long way off AFL I assumed you meant Butcher. Wonder where those 2 will play next year.

*EDIT*

I thought you said "what sort of money **** will be gone".....

Butcher $300k, Wagner minimum as would Palmer.

Butcher and Wagner, my house would be on it (that they are gone). Palmer will be kept, he was in the extended AFL squad named on Thursday last week for the Sunday game.

Butcher (smartly) signed a lucrative extension in which he is in the last year so I would say he is on a minimum of $350k this year, probably more the way contracts are back ended and Port would have thought he would be now dominating AFL.

Wagner was a rookie so around $70k.

FFS Scott a bit of detail would have been nice. :D

Butcher $350k. That is comical. Enjoy it while it lasts big fella.

In all seriousness, Where is he likely to play next season? Port magpies contracted player, another sanfl club, the country?

Why extend his contract if they didn't have high hopes for him?

Fair to say he is only on the list this year because he was contracted.

From the article after extending -

Butcher's signature was keenly sought by Port, given the 21-year-old's immense promise as a game-changing tall forward.

Immense promise Vs "thought he would be dominating the AFL".

Immense promise, you resign him. Dominating the AFL, your words.

Top 10 draft pick, 11 goals in first 3 games of his career, nicknamed "the future" by fellow players....think they had a fair opinion/hopes of him.
