Still stuck in 1994 like your last flag LGIL, and what would you know about a week 1 Saturday A grade final to be able to assess numbers back at the club. Sunday finals are worse for reducing the post match activity back at the club and some clubs cop 2 of those for their A grade during the finals. There would have been a time that all SFL finals were played on a Saturday just like the SANFL did pre 74 or 75 so that would gave been a radical change when it happened.

With players, parents and supporters abandoning any other possible plans for that night, numbers back at club and possibly staying until close could even make it a bigger night. And what about the clubs who play in the B grade late game. If one or both aren't in the next game, that could help boost the numbers back at the club that night. Remember the loser of any final played that day still plays the next week so it's not as though anyone will be looking for a season over bender. People should stop searching for the negative and give it a go.

We are only talking 2 clubs being affected and when I say affected that could be just as much a positive than a negative.

The big issue is the proposal to play the 2 v 3 final on the first Saturday as a night game at Port Noarlunga commencing at 6pm. Obviously all the earlier games at that venue will be shifted back. I think its a great progressive idea which will also assist players, officials, support staff, parents and supporters of clubs who have teams at both Saturday venues to manage their day easier. Clubs have been asked to provide their thoughts on the proposal which will assist with Monday's decision. Regardless of night game or not, I have a feeling the fixture will be:

5/9 - 1 v 4 at Marion and 2 v 3 at PN
6/9 - 5 v 8 at CB or N and 6 v 7 at CB or N
12/9 - Loser 1 v 4 vs Winner 5 v 8 at Ald or N
13/9 - Loser 2 v 3 vs Winner 6 v 7 at Ald or N
19/9 - Winner 1 v 4 vs Winner 13/9 at CB or PN
20/9 - Winner 2 v 3 vs Winner 12/9 at CB or PN
26/9 - GF at SAFC

Atleast the league didn't ask for a vote this time and then just decide to go against it! Will be interesting to see what the Maroon (moron) coats say, but im guessing it will be left the same as they don't want to make it to hard for themselves

Morphettville Park u/18 defeated a combined Cove / Morphett Vale side today and with three less players on the team sheet. The twisties have copped a lot of flak over the years for its junior program. A portion of which has come from people from clubs who are not fielding a solo under 18's side this year.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Will be a massive Saturday at Reynella this weekend and one I suspect both clubs have been looking forward to for the last month.

A quick look at the ladders and 4 out of the 5 games will be 1 v 2 with the 18's being 1 v 3.

And is a strange co-incidence the FH Subbies (5 games) and Sunday 14/16's are all at Reynella on Sunday, 12 games between 2 clubs on the same ground in one weekend, some sort of record surely?

How will Morphettville go filling a side now that school holiday's are over?

"And is a strange co-incidence"

Not to mention that the five Saturday teams of Flaggies and Reynella do it all again at FH on 22 August. These 2 appear to have the top 2 spots stitched up but quite fascinating what movements there will be from positions 3 to 11 over the last 6 weeks of the season.

Fascinating indeed DTH. Anyone got any insight into MV v MVP result on weekend? Vikings playing MVP twice in road to finals. Can't afford to drop more than 1 or 2 games so these 2 games will be crucial.

Night Final was approved last night and all the 2 v 3 Qualifying finals from U14 get pushed back by 3.5 hours.

U14 - 11.45
U16 - 1.05
U18 - 2.40
B - 4.20
A - 6.00

Finals venues to be released today and my previous post is not quite right. Noarlunga is hosting the 1 v 4 final and I think Marion now has one of the Elimination Finals on the Sunday. Can't confirm weeks 2 or 3 yet and will post the full schedule once released.

So again only a couple of good games this week. My tips

Brighton to beat Aldinga by 120points

A rejuvenated Christies to beat Marion by 72points

Noarlunga to beat Cove by 69points

M/Vale to bounce back with a big win over Hackham by 88points

Better match here but an in form Morphie Parks to beat Valley at their home by 24points

Porties to get back on the winners list with the biggest win of the weekend by 160points against Lions

Match of the round, My tip is Reynella to upset Flaggies by 30points

Good luck to all
