Wow  a game on TV that doesn't involve a Reserves side. Followed by two that do.
I think the joint Crows / Power decision to invest in Channel 7 is paying dividends.

Oh.... Hang on a minute, that's right it was the SANFL who invested a $m in Ch 7 to promote their league wasn't it

The SANFL's John Casey will be calling the Boomers & Opals games against New Zealand in the FIBA Oceania Championship for Channel 9 next month.

Will be cool to hear the Casey-isms during a basketball game again.

I wish they'd change this telecast, with the 2 worst sides in the league playing it's not going to be a great advert for the SANFL, I guess it will make the Crow's happy clappers warm and fuzzy inside to see their hopeless reserves smash a totally destroyed North side when they turn on the TV, at least they'll get to hear the atmosphere their additional 4000 fans will create at Prospect

I like "Goes to work", which gets a regular work out during an SANFL call...

I do enjoy John's basketball commentating, as well...

Bit of a strange selection given it'll now be Port's sixth time on TV (and their third game of the last four on TV) while six other sides have only featured twice. It is the Magpies' last TV game until finals, though. Adelaide has been on three times (two against Port).

Also it's the third game at Unley this year while Noarlunga has had none.

Eagles v South is the TV game the following week on Seven's main channel.

Not that I'm defending C7's selection of matches/venues, they were scheduled to do South v Ravens a few weeks ago, but that game was obviously cancelled.

I thought the reserves was the only reason 7 was interested in broadcasting SANFL in the first place? Although going on the 14K viewership for the North v Crows game maybe they'll reconsider their options.

Out of interest I had a look at the WAFL. The WAFL gets 18 games + finals broadcast by 7/7mate and their broadcast schedule was released at the start of the season. The numbers are fairly even, unless you follow West Perth

Peel/Freo 4
East Perth/WCE 5
West Perth 0
Perth 3
Swan Dist 5
Claremont 4
Subiaco 4
East Freo 4
South Freo 5

Why can't the broadcast schedule be released for the whole season here instead of in blocks? Do/should the clubs get any input?

West Perth are sponsored by Channel 9 so Channel 7 have boycotted them or atleast that is my understanding

Ah ok, I remember reading that now. Would be interesting to know whether their crowds are higher as a result.

 Disappointing broadcast from Prospect by channel 7 on Saturday for me.
Please learn all the players names and give them some credit for some nice plays.
Secondly get your facts right about the players,
giving wrong information is misleading for viewers and the young guys having a go.

I didn't notice lots of errors per se but many examples of silence when a North player got the ball, umming about who the North player might be, They usually ended up saying nothing or referring to him as "the North player" even when their number was clearly visible. Do they not have a budget? Given they seemed to know the names of the crows' top-up players just made it look more unprofessional.

Managed to catch this game in full (only the 2nd TV game I've managed to see this year) and again found John Casey to be absolutely wonderful and his research, knowledge and professionalism definitely shines through and shows his respect for a competition that deserves it.
