great to win a close one,we've been on the receiving end too times.
Souths first half was pretty ordinary, second half much better but still had quite a few missing in action so to speak. Four goals behind at halftime wasnt a good look but the boys put their heads down and got too work, leveling the scores with a miraculous goal from Rankin and then hitting the front with a point from Irra.
Like others I thought it was a great game from Eddy- his best for the year, booted 4.3 to be the dominant forward on the ground despite being manhandled at every contest and a lose player dropping in front of him for most of the game. Irras great form continues, hes a much improved player.
Nathan Daniel, Gulden and Cross were best of the rest. Liddells absence in the second half with an ankle injury a concern.
A couple of tough games ahead, but looking forward to the challenge. :)

South's best as named by adelaidenow:

BEST: South: Cross, Eddy, Donohue, Irra, Veide, Daniel, Seccull, Crabb, Gotch

2 goals and 17 possessions would suggest he wasn't that bad for the Legs :D

Wonderful win full of character, Matt Rankine's goal was the best i've seen kicked at Hicky oval and Brett Eddy northern end snap was priceless. Great to see the players and coach Brad Gotch celebrate together going up the players race, appeared a happy group of players who are enjoying their sport.

And what made Eddy's goal even better was the siren went not long after it.

The arctic breeze helped Rankine's goal.

Was great standing near the race yesterday and cheering the boys off the ground and seeing them appreciate the support they were given

Very good game of footy, could of gone either way but credit to South they had their noses in front when it counted. Eddy played a good game and lowered Levicki's colours for the first time this season. Irra was brilliant, great turn of pace and makes his possessions count. Poor checking by the Legs they gave him far too much room to link up play. Rankine's goal was a cracker.

Two things I loved about that goal:
1. Rankine was definitely having a shot when he kicked it; and
2. The footy never looked like it was going to sneak past that goal post and go through..............until all of a sudden it just did!

Big challenge for Nwd to hang on to the double chance now.

Not helped by news today that Bartlett (knee) and Wilkins (hand) may be out for the rest of the season.

Wilkins a big loss if so, Bartlett not so and worse his possible replacement Ferreira still in a moon boot so also unlikely again.
