A couple of calls :

- Is the team unhappy/confused/disappointed with the Haddin axing? The "family first" ethos that the Australian team has long lived by seems to have been cast aside in this decision. Has it upset team harmony?

- Is Clarkey done? He's not just looked out of touch but like he's not picking the ball up out of the hand at all. Time catches up with us all, has it caught up with him?

- Do we get someone to replace Voges now? With Rogers finishing after this series (?), Clarke not far away, do we really need another 35+ in the side to drop away in the next few months?
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

Yep, id rather a couple of the younger ones fly in from India and play the rest of the series. Burns or Head couldnt do worse than some of these old blokes

Burns should be in the test side this Australian summer IMO.

To give his dues, thought Broad batted really well given the game situation, hanging around when Ali was all over the shop just before lunch and then scoring freely after to consolidate England's advantage. Ali was very lucky, and Broad gave him the chance to score later on.

yeah not sure where the thought of england having a brittle tail came from - Ali at 8 and Broad at 9 is a pretty deep lineup. Their 10 and 11 are far worse than australias, but Ali has batted in the top 6 before

Agree.
Broad has always been good enough with the bat down there, his ticker in Australia last year was the problem.
Ali gave me the sh!ts last night though.

Totally agree, his batting potential has evaporated over the past 18 months but last night was exactly how he should bat every time he goes to the wicket.

Pretty pathetic really, It was on the cards that we were going to lose this test in 2 days. 2 DAYS?!

Clarke is in trouble, Voges out for Shaun Marsh and Mitch Marsh will be feeling instant heat.

Hopefully Nev and Starc can at least give us something little to bowl at

Perhaps
Yes
Yes

Nick Marsh for Voges. Possibly Siddle for Starc who isn't hitting the pitch. The big advantage England has had in this match is pressure at both ends vs. pressure at one end.

Possibly, but really it shouldn't. The team are professionals, and if something like this upsets team harmony then they need to take a good hard look at themselves.

They're playing for Australia. Against England, in a close Ashes series. If I were wearing the baggy green, nothing would stop me giving 110% out there every time.

FWIW, I think the selectors had a very tough decision. The circumstances of Haddin having to miss the second test are unfortunate, but no-one has a right to play for Australia. In a Ashes series locked at 1-1, the best XI need to play. Nevill's batting and keeping have probably been superior to Haddin's. There is no room for sentiment, and it would be disappointing if the best team weren't picked giving how the whole country is willing the team to win.

Unfortunate for Haddin, but it's not about the individual. It's about the team. Haddin can be given the support he needs regardless IMO.

It annoyed the hell out of me listening to Warne the other night carry on for ages about how Haddin should've been picked and wasted right etc.. FFS just commentate the game, you're not a selector!

I can't listen to warnie anymore, harps on about certain points far to much. Neville was the right pick anyway as shown by his innings at the moment, Haddin was in awful form and didn't deserve a game plain and simple. You should of listened to Warnie's constant barrage towards Cook over the past 2 English summers, I get the point but the constant nature of it was ridiculous and over the top.

It was sad what had happen to Haddin but due to his circumstances another player was given a chance and they performed all while Haddin was in career worse form, it was a no brainer decision

Clarke is cooked, done and dusted!!
