No comment

So we aren't the only ones who had issues with him then?

Side note Zartan, I thought your umpire was one of the better ones we have had in the B grade, boys all said how much better the game is knowing both umpires were good and paid both ways.. So hats off to his performance on the weekend

Nope and seems to be a common theme....

With that sheer girth, one can understand why there is so much tape holding those knees together.

Knee replacement :(

Hence not being able to train at all and blowing out. (Although that picture makes it look at lot worse as I'm bending over) I'm 106kgs at 186cm (Sportsmed measurements yesterday) and haven't been able to do any training or running at all to be honest I know now why.

I don't mind admitting I was absolutely distraught when I got the news yesterday so much so I really had trouble sleeping last night. at 36 a knee replacement just isn't something you contemplate. Then to be told you can only get 2 in your life time and the expected life span of a replacement is 10-12 years my thought process immediately went so ok so what happens when I'm mid/late 50's and have had my 2 replacements?

I have 2 kids under 3 years old WTF can I do with them growing up? I'm devastated at the minute....

Maybe Karma for giving everyone shit on here.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Mate, Beefa got told the same thing and had to retire. He's holding off getting the first knee replacement, due to their short life span. Is it an option for you to hold off for as long as you can?

I know it's been a massive part of your life but there's far more to life than chasing a bit of leather around, you'll always have coaching gigs at your disposal to get your footy fix. Hold off on the replacement, sit back and enjoy life for a while with your family, I'm sure you'd wanna be able to enjoy playing various sports with them just messing about in the future.

I'm in the same boat mate, keep in mind that medical technology changes very quickly.

By the time you're 50 they might be growing new nanotech-knees in laboratories and you'll be able to play masters.

BLASPHEMY!

Your just friggin crazy mate!!!

I always thought footy was the be all and end all of life until I started getting injuries too often, I tore my hammy big time a couple of times, I couldn't get in and out of my car, I couldn't take a dump for a few days and it was costing me too much time off work.
One of my calf muscles completely disinegrated which now has a big ditch in it, my ankles are shot, as much as I'd love to have a kick again, I know what the outcome could be.

When I wrecked my leg earlier in the season and was rolling around the grass in agony, one of my teammates, who is my age and has kids, told me his first thought was "why the **** am I still playing footy?"

But as my physio said, "play until you can't, it's not like you'll be able to go back to it in five years".
