My prediction for the ladder at the end of R18

1. Elizabeth (Look to have some good ins and were a quality outfit last year, I'm wary of reading too much into trial games but anytime you beat an opponent from a higher div, you must have a half reasonnable side)
2. CLG (injuries killed us late last year and if things had gone differently couldve beaten havens out there in the qualifying to go straight through)
3. Para Hills ( Dynamite at home last year and have a lengthy list of ins, if they can start to win away from home, expect them to improve on last year)
4. CBCOC ( Good side last year when everything clicked, will have to be more consistent across the whole year this year but should be around the mark)
5. BOS ( div 6 premiers have historically gone well their first year in div 5, dont think this will be any exception, always tough playing at their home ground and have got a few decent ins)
6. Rosewater ( Grand finalist last year in div 6 and have a long list of ins, could finish much higher but time will tell.)
7. Luthies ( Didnt see anything of them last year and havent seen to much movement on the recruiting front, in an improved div 5 comp, may find wins hard to come by)
8. Greenacres ( Few ins, few outs at this stage, played some decent footy at times last year but may find this year a bit tougher)
9. Woody sth ( couple of big outs at this stage, werent disgraced in div 4 last year by any stretch but again in a tough comp i think they may struggle)
10. Pultney ( Havent heard too many good things out of Pultney, know they had a couple of good college kids coming up but its a big step up, my tip for the wooden spoon.)

Just my opinion guys and anything can happen before round 1 or even during the year!

BFG posted this at the beginning of the season.

Geez Giraffe... you were pretty much on the money here!

Who would be the team with the most upside for next year? Who would be unluckiest team this year? Who was the best team outside of the top 5?

CLG & Elizabeth for me this week. Really good game between these two yesterday - probably the best game of footy I've seen this year.

Footy was good in both games, soured by #5 for CLG who thought it was OK to spit on the Elizabeth runner!! Also the guy who lent on the point post for half the B grade and threatened the Elizabeth players, then to top things off as Elizabeth walked past the tent they were abused and told to enjoy Div 5 next year.....maybe CLG have their shirts printed already hey ;)

That was a sponsors day tent, I wouldn't take the word of one or two people seriously, was told a number of clg supporters congratulated Elizabeth for a great game, tough and hard football from both teams. We are 100% focused on this week and not looking beyond that, para hills present a huge challenge and have found form at the right time of year. Good luck to EFC this week

It was just a bit of friendly fire - no abuse from where I stood. Good luck to all teams - should be a cracking final series!

Spit on...

meaning he hocked and aimed AT the trainer? or turned around to spit on the floor (as many blokes do) and the trainer happened to be there?

I hate it but you can't stop blokes doing it at all and not condoning the action but some context can be taken here, depending on the circumstances.

ie; malicious and with intent or otherwise.

The little fella knew the runner was there and spat at him!! The club has apologized for his actions and they will deal with it however they feel fit.

My picks for this weekend -

Early games

Pulteney to defeat Rosewater
Elizabeth to defeat CBC

Late games

Para Hills to defeat CLG
CBC to defeat Elizabeth

Good luck to all. It's the best time of year to be playing.

i think CLG with half a team brought back in since round 17 and at home will get over the line..last time PHFC came to mortlock they got a 17 goal belting..

EFC for me in the elimination..perhaps a little bit stronger all over the ground and up forward..plus the home deck..

good luck to all playing this weekend..
