SANFL trying to save themselves ....
why not scrap the SANFL reserves and only have League squads U/18/ U/15 development squads for those who want to play AFL
send the rest to local/country clubs .... like Power/Crows .... flood the market this may drop prices ...
this may help their money problems ......

stopping clubs from recruiting players may destroy clubs ...... not all clubs have the population base to develop juniors .... high areas will have strong junior base / less in other .... all clubs strive for success... many clubs in all sports starting to struggle with lack off volunteers ... we live in a i want society .... can't blame a bloke who wants to get ahead to help pay the mortgage ...

Wouldnt a cap on club payments help stuggling club to recuit??
Players that want $$ could go to another club that has room in it cap.
The point cap is the problem, a struggling clubs cant, even at the moment, go out and recuit enough players to play to be competitive. As they run into points problems.

No strikes or anything

Multiple clubs forfeit their juniors for the entire season and nothing happens

With 2 rounds to play the 14/16/18/B grade final 8 is set BUT the A grade is wide open with tenth placed Porties on 16 points with Valley in 9th on 16 points and Christies 8th on 16 points who this week play 7th placed Townies on 18 points with Townies having a bye in the last round should make for a cracker of a game .

Porties - Tough draw wineys and bombers. After seeing them last week, they are missing plenty of blokes in that side, will miss 8 IMO.
Valleys- Twisties at the pasty and the not so household names of the shoeys  8 point game last week (Porties) and this week is too... still a chance for 8th.
Christies- Townys and Hackam if they don't forfeit ;), if Bice oval boys get up for Cratey this week he gets to coach on in Sept!

Think Christies in the box seat for 7th and 8th spot may come down to percentage- valley Townys Porties..... but you never know......

Huge game at Pig Park also 1 v 2, can flaggy fire a shot across the bow of the Winey's juggernaut on their home deck.....??
Cracking round of games coming up this week..... should be more of it!!

Why is it that most comps are starting finals and we are still 2 weeks away?

Would it of caused any issues if we got rid of one or two of the last rounds? :-??

The joys of having a 15 team comp I'd say.

It has been discussed a number of times, apparently playing 16 games each would destroy tradition, cost clubs revenue, stop the chickens from laying and attract swarms of locusts.

Funny how we stop the competition for a week so we can send half a dozen players off to play in a lightning carnival, extending the length of the season for a week. All so that that half of the board members can spend a weekend on the piss and dreaming up great ideas like points systems and player payment caps.

Well if people had listened to a certain club delegate we Could have had an 16 game season in 2015. An early Easter next year means the SFL may once again be able to squeeze an 18 game season into the calendar but will still mean we start earlier and finish later than most other leagues. Removing the BYE is the key issue.

What's the latest on any departures, mergers etc. Rumour is that some clubs have had recent meetings with the SFL Board regarding their future.
