No its not. Whats its like is that 2 weeks after your assistant coach says goodbye to his son who was killed in a car accident due to a drunk driver, your captain has few drinks and drives.

Spin it however you like. But there it is.

So it would be ok then if Rattens Lad didn't pass a couple a weeks ago?

Nope. But this is just worse for the club. Still a stupid thing to do.

Jeez you blokes are quick to judge Hodge, I mean how do any of you know what was going through his mind, what his intentions were?
I hope, unlike with the AFL tribunal, he gets a chance to explain himself to the magistrate and possibly get off - hey daisy? 8-}

A real storm in a tea cup. I can honestly say I respect Hodge the same amount as I did before his drink driving slip up.

For those us who watch your posts, that means a lot.

He's made some very bad decisions. The first was driving drunk, the second was his interview with Hamush at half time. That was really average. Spent 10 minutes telling us he thought he was ok and how he was surprised he was over the limit.

However, Al Clarkson said " If you watch Hodge blow over in slow motion, it looks bad, but really he had a second to decide what to do. " ;)

Insert blind parochialism here.

I would think that most people know if you have 4 beers within 2-3 hours there is a fair chance that you would blow over if pulled over.

At least he has the option of pleading not guilty and doesnt risk getting a more severe penalty which was my whole point but yeah you take that out of what i said

At least he didnt jump in a cab and run the risk of assaulting/robbig the driver ;)

05 to 079 is only revenue raising and a bit of a safety net. It is designed for cases exactly like this. If you want zero tolerance have a zero limit.
Every single one of you hypocrite's would have done exactly the same thing at some point and maybe you didnt get caught.

Society says the penalty is 450 fine and 10 demerit points, im happy for that to be the penalty but no doubt he will get fined 5000 by Hawthorn as well. Do any of your bosses hit you with 20 times your penalty for breaking the law?

The problem is the blurred lines of the .05 to start with. We argue that under the legal limit is ok.

Is drink driving ok? The answer is no regardless of the level so bring in a zero tolerance and then there is none of this 'i didnt know' garbage!

The fact he is an AFL footballer let alone Captain and very well known publicly just exarcebates the issue because like it or not there are many people who are watching closely.

Hodgey hasnt done his reputation any favours in the past month or so...

**** off. How do you know what I would do.

If I had was going to have more than 1 or 2 I wouldn't drive. If i was driving I wouldnt drink more than that.

Im sure he could have called a cab.

.068 is at least 7 standard drinks or 7 pots/schooners. If he waited 2 hours like i heard then that would go up to 9, allowing for .01 reduction per hour.

Poor. If the Hawks Board had any balls, they should suspend him. Not great for the leader of your club to do such a thing.
Just like he promotes, he will get off Lite&Easy.

If he was a nondescript fringe player you can bet the club would've given him a suspension. It's always selective justice with these things.
