I had the 400g American T-bone and the Mrs had the 300g scotch both with a gravy boat. Both $29.90 but 2 for 1 on the ent book. I had mine medium and it was pretty good and cooked just right. Not the best cut I have had in my time but meat definitely worthy of my consumption. For some dumb pregnant reason Lady Wrist chose to have hers well done  perhaps in an attempt to remove the authentic flavours of the fillet but each to their own. I had a bite and it was noticeably more chewy.

The salad and veg bar was very good featuring potato bake, pumpkin, peas and some other veg mix and a good array of tasty fresh salads. I was grateful for this as the steaks took a long time due to the aforementioned order. The rolls were alright but are normally better.

We got the corner booth which is always good. As Frank Costanza would say "I didn't come all this way to sit at a TABLE!!!!"

8/10.

Scotch Fillet well done?!
What a waste

Precisely. I did politely mention the fact and point out the only person I know that has it that way are children and my idiot sister and she has agreed to try a medium next start.

Glynde Hotel
Some American-themed dishes, good menu tweaked so not as a basic pub menu, but not trying to be too fancy beyond their capabilities.

Three of us:
Starter platter for 2 with ribs and wings was enough for all 3
Mains - I had beer-battered barramundi and a side of grilled sweetcorn with chilli butter, others had salt and pepper squid with an Asian salad and grilled barramundi.
Deserts - sticky date pudding, lemon meringue tart, were above the norm
Couple of beers, wines, soft drinks, all came to $170.

8/10. No complaints all round on the dishes, 1/2 point off for a pet peeve of salads served with the barramundis being the lazy, unoriginal wedge of tomato, two thin cucumber slices, and a heap of that lettuce mix, which was out of character with the rest of the menu.

Definitely be back.

Korean Charcoal BBQ on Glen Osmond Road

I had high expectations. It didn't really live up to them.

I thought they would bring something out, we would make it, and then relax and eat it. I dont know how most people do it, but the girl that invited us out took over the cooking, and we were pretty much snacking on pieces of meat.

I got full quickly, but was hungry by the time we were halfway home.

It was "all you can eat", but once we got on our 3rd order of meat, the waitress told us our time was up. It was 8pm on a Friday night. This is when I suspected it was more of the Northern variety of Koreans.

$86 for two people is too much for a BBQ too.

Wont be back!

First Commercial - Port Adelaide

Rocked in at 7pm Saturday night, went the 400g rump medium with pepper, $16.Mrs went the lamb shanks, $12, mate went the rump like me, his Mrs the veal schnitzel. All of it came out together about 15 minutes after we ordered.

All in all, excellent again. Friendly service, really well cooked really nice piece of steak (just enough fat to offer a piece if you like it that way) , good sized chips, coleslaw was great too. Mrs Boon's lamb shack ( one ) was huge, would have 300-400g of meat on it, silky smooth mash and veggies were Mum style home cooked chunky carrots, peas and beans.

I've got no problem recommending the First Commercial at the Port. With a change of owner it is also set to become a "night club" type set up upstairs to challenge the Palais as the destination for the cool kids on the peninsula.

Again, highly rated, 8.5/10 for good quality pub food.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

Maid of Auckland

Thought we would go there to celebrate the Bloods win over the Magpies (and fathers day)

Both the missus and I had Salt and Pepper squid, thought they were undercooked and lacking in flavour. Pale white colour of the crumb was offputting before we even tried them. Tiny side bowl of tartare sauce and salad.
Two kids both had Chicken Burgers, I think they got my pepper as the chicken breast was totally covered in black peppercorns, one son loved it the other hated it as it was too peppery.

Steak chips were the highlight, oh and the beer was cold.

The "New" Burger Foundry on Magill Rd.

I will prefix this review with some context. Burger Foundry were my sponsor in 2013 and I thus regularly attended the old location. This was my first time at the new location and in 18 months that I had been.

4 of us went. Mum and Sister in law went with the blue cheese one whose name escapes me and a couple of root beers. The Mrs and I both went for my old favourite "The Rocky Mountain High". She had a strawberry shake of some kind and I had the Peanut Butter Blitz or something along those lines. We shared a cup of chips each pair. I didn't do the ordering.

The new restaurant is nicer with much more size, seating and space. It is a nice place to eat. We arrived with our orders on the table so not really sure on that process. Skimming the menu the price for the 4 of us would have been about $90. I liked it better when it was discounted or free :)

The RMH burger has fancy bacon, caramelised onion, cheese and salad with Aioli. The first thing I noticed is the bun and burger are noticeably smaller than 2013. Not to the point of not being big enough but they always stood out to me previously as " The tasty big ass burger". Now they are more a regular size. Chips were ok but a bit over cooked and the drink was simply too damn sweet for my liking but probably par for the course when you consider its name. It actually got too sickly. My burger was good if not very good but the patty itself didn't quite have the wow factor I had previously experienced.

Overall they still do a very good burger and it is a much more visually stimulating place to go now. It's not cheap but for about $20 each with a drink it's the kind of place worth a crack. 7.5/10

Went to the North Kapunda for tea tonight, as the FIL lives up there.

Menu had quite a few steaks on it, which I am normally wary about in a country pub, as it is rarely good.

But FIL went for the 500g rib eye, so i thought i would go the same, with chips, salad, and mushroom gravy.

Was pretty impressive when it came out, huge chunk of meat and lots of chips and salad.

Probably the best cut of meat I have had outside of a really good steak place in the city. You could literally cut it with the back of the knife.

Ordered medium rare and it came out perfectly.

Wasnt cheap at $38, but FIL is one of the local barfly's there, so we just whacked it on his tab and he then just got us to chuck in $50 per couple at the end, which was 2 meals, a couple of toohey's old's and a softy, pretty good value :D

Mrs just had the parmy, and well if you stuff up a parmy you shall be out of business. I wont be reviewing a parmy though, because that belongs with KFC reviews - nowhere.

Anyway, I would give it 8/10, genuinely surprising how good it was.
